    Senior Design Engineer Salary, Hours and Benefits

    • 37.5 hours per week, 8:00am – 4:30pm, with flexibility
    • Hybrid – two days per week in the office (after training)
    • 22 days holiday, which can go to 28 days with service

    • Minimum 5 years experience, not including work placements, as a product designer for a technical or specialist products company.

    Senior Design Engineer Key Responsibilities (but not limited to):

    • Ensuring the successful daily operation of bespoke project orders, enquiry stage projects, technical support requests, or any other work undertaken within the team.
    • Overseeing and validating the design, development and implementation of all bespoke project designs and new bespoke product applications produced by the bespoke design team.
    • Ensuring that the customer experience is at the heart of everything they do and promote it within the bespoke design team when working with customers, internal teams and suppliers.
    • Identifying and suggesting new methods, procedures and work processes to continuously improve efficiencies and working practices.
    • Undertaking regular One-to-One meetings, appraisals and discussions of development plans with direct reports.

    Designing:

    • Liaising directly with customers to identify their needs and provide project support and technical advice, promoting the company brand through the production of high-quality visuals or drawings to communicate designs and present to our customers.
    • Undertaking the design and development of innovative solutions to the client's specification, producing high quality 3D models for manufacturing purposes, fully detailed as required, utilising sheet metal features where appropriate.
    • Actively building relationships with architects and contractors through project work, site visits, project meetings, and events.
    • Utilising commercial and financial awareness to work closely with the customer and internal departments when establishing the feasibility and realisation of product design specifications.
    • Identifying where prototyping or analysis may be required, undertaking the work or assisting with team members to verify new design features where necessary.

    Mechanical Design Engineer Candidate Requirements

    • Ideally, minimum of 5 years experience working in mechanical engineering.
    • 3D design proficiency. Inventor would be ideal, but all 3D experience will be considered.
    • Knowledge of manufacturing processes and their requirements from a design perspective, along with knowledge of material and parts specifications and the ability to suitably select these for the design requirements.
    • Hands-on manufacturing / assembling experience would advantageous.
    • The following would be preferred but isn't essential: experience of pneumatic circuit design and functionality, knowledge of machinery directive, LOLER and other legislative requirements, experience in special purpose machinery, assembly fixture and jig design.
    • Experience working within the Automotive industry would again be advantageous.
    • UK driving licence.

    Mechanical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities

    • You will be responsible for the full design lifecycle of the products; this includes defining concepts and developing them into fully functioning 3D models.
    • Initial project review and scope of requirements with the project delivery team.
    • Creating fully functioning 3D CAD models of mechanical systems, special purpose machinery, assembly fixtures, production jigs, mechanical handling systems and industrial automated systems using the latest version of Autodesk Inventor Professional.
    • Creating, checking, and approving 2D manufacturing, assembly, testing and installation drawings to BS
    • Running and participating in design reviews in accordance with internal and customers design standards and relevant legislation.
    • Liaising between design and manufacturing to understand manufacturing constrains or requirements that need to be accounted for.
    • Working in an energetic environment you will play a key role in delivering multiple high-tech projects with a strong professional Engineering support network guiding and coaching you to excellence.

    Junior Electrical Design Engineer Key Responsibilities:
    (full training will be given where required)

    • To prepare electrical specifications, materials lists, wiring diagrams and data sheets to the regulations and standards appropriate to the site conditions, location and equipment.
    • Provide technical assistance in the preparation of procedures, quotations, tenders and installation work involving electrical equipment.
    • Ensure drawings of electrical installations and equipment are prepared and updated as necessary to the appropriate standards.
    • Overseeing of projects through to commissioning – within budget and required timescales.
    • Liaise with customers, visit sites to discuss and agree specifications and performance requirements. Visits to site may entail fault diagnosis, recommending and implementing corrective measures.
    • Design electrical control panels and boards for production in house.
    • Create Bills of Material for electrical work.
