    Barts Heart Centre- St Bartholomew's Hospital
    Consultant in Cardiac Surgery with a Specialist Interest in Septal Myectomy and Digital Remote Monitoring

    We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Cardiac Surgery with a Specialist Interest in Septal Myectomy and Digital Remote Monitoring.

    This is a full-time position (10 PAs).

    The successful candidate will join a well-established team and will play a key role in developing cardiac surgery services further.

    The post holder will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of cardiac & septal myectomy surgical services to Barts Health.

    An additional role is to deliver and further develop a new Virtual Ward service using an established digital platform and expand its usage to our referring hospitals.

    To enhance and further develop a world class septal myectomy service
    The consultant clinical responsibilities which are involved in patient care including participation in the Consultant of the Week rota.
    Once clinic per week with new and follow-up outpatients.
    To provide diagnosis and treatment of patients in hospitals and clinics within the Trust
    To liaise effectively and on a timely basis with colleagues, managers, general practitioners, community services, and all healthcare agencies.

    Leadership, development and organisation of the services in his/her charge in line with the Trusts business plans. Corporate and individual responsibility for the professional management of doctors in training.
    On GMC Specialist Register for cardiothoracic surgery or within 6 months of attaining CCT.
    Higher Research Degree MD or PhD

    Comprehensive training in Adult Cardiac Surgery in dedicated units.

    Demonstrative subspeciality experience in Septal Myectomy surgery
    International fellowship in cardiac surgery
    Ability to support team members in business planning via collaboration and discussion.
    Academic Achievements
    Ability to demonstrate personal experience of academic research and describe and discuss findings and impact.

    PhD/ MD Thesis

    Experience of research, presentations to learned societies on topics related to general thoracic surgery
    Ability to apply research outcomes to clinical/surgical problems
    Teaching/Training
    Experience teaching and training undergraduates, junior doctors and allied professionals

    IT skills and computer literacy
    Ability to motivate and develop medical trainees.
    Database management

    Personal Qualities
    Commitment to continuing medical education.
    Willingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level.
    Willingness to challenge the norm in a positive manner while building a team ethos, to deliver consistently high levels of care for patients in a productive and cost effective manner
