    We have an exciting opportunity for an Investment Risk Manager - Private Markets and Real Assets to join the Private Markets Risk Team in London on a permanent basis (hybrid working).

    The Private Markets Risk Team sits within the broader Investment Risk Oversight and Sustainable Ownership ("IROSO") Team

    Railpen is responsible for the safekeeping and investment of around £34 billion in assets and the administration of several pension schemes, including the Railways Pension Scheme, one of the UK's largest and longest established pension funds.

    The successful candidate will report directly into the Head of Private Market Risk and Valuations, and work collaboratively with the existing Investment Risk Manager and the broader IROSO function.

    The Private Markets Risk Team is responsible for providing independent risk advice on all aspects of Private Markets, Real Assets and other illiquid investments and strategies to Investment Committees ("ICs"), the Investment Risk Committee ("IRC") and other committees where required.

    The core responsibilities of this role will include reviewing, analysing and drafting risk opinions for Private Market and Real Asset transactions, attending ICs (non-voting member) to present and discuss risk opinions and monitoring existing Private Market and Real Asset investments.

    The ideal candidate will be able to identify key investment risks in proposed transactions and collaborate with other functions to assess/suggest appropriate mitigations to ensure investments meet our client's requirements.

    You will be passionate about investments, take accountability for the work you produce, and be comfortable providing insights on and challenging investment recommendations.

    You will be required to show conviction in, and strong justification for, your opinions to provide the appropriate level of challenge and oversight on both new and existing investments.

    Being a team player and collaborative in your approach is key as you will work regularly with Investment Teams and other functions when reviewing proposed transactions, monitoring (and reporting on) existing investments and on broader projects across the Fiduciary and Investment Management business.
