    East Sussex School Health Service are looking for enthusiastic and highly motivated, Specialist Community Public HealthNurses (School Nurse or Health Visitor) wishing to develop their knowledge and skills working with 5-19 yr olds, to join skill-mix team that has a diverse range of knowledge and skills.

    • A recruitment and retention premium of 3,500 pro rata per annum will be applied to this post for 3 years subject to annual reviewAs a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) you can make a real difference to children, families and communities, in a variety of community settings. You will play a fundamental role in the development of the Healthy ChildProgramme, promoting child development, safeguarding children, preventing social exclusion and deprivation and tacklingimportant public health issues.

    A key element of the East Sussex School Health service is our mental health support offer for young people which isdelivered by our mental health practitioners.

    If, as a SCPHN, you have a special interest in mental health you will besupported to develop your skills and support this workstream.

    Every day working as a SCPHN is different, including identifying need, planning and implementing interventions as wellas working with a range of local children's agencies and professionals.

    We have a hybrid working model ensuring that we provide care to children and young people in the right place at the righttime.

    This will include schools, clinics, home and virtually.


    The ideal candidate will have:

    • A SCPHN qualification (SN or HV wishing to develop their knowledge and skills working with 5-19 yr olds)
    • Flexible approach to meet the needs of the service.
    • Car owner/driver essential, subject to the provisions of the Equality Act (2010), as driving around the county will berequire

    Although vaccination against COVID-19 is not mandatory, we are strongly encouraging colleagues in clinical and non-clinical roles who have direct or social contact with patients to be fully vaccinated.

    1) Registered health care professional (NMC registration) 2) Health related degree and evidence of relevant post graduate development at Level 6 3) Evidence of Specialist qualifications relevant to area of practice - Specialist Community Public Health Nurse

    1) Minimum of 2 years' experience in area of practice 2) Practical experience in managing health related projects/complex caseloads 3) Supporting others (mentor / educator / supervisor) experience

    1) Understanding of National Service Frameworks and NICE guidance to relevant to care setting and its application across health care services 2) Evidence of continued relevant professional development and implementation in practice within the last 12 months

    1) Understanding of training needs in relation to post 2) Ability to manage time effectively, priorities and work under pressure to meet deadlines 3) Ability to work effectively with a variety of people at all organisational levels across different sectors including areas of social deprivation 4) Ability to communicate complex, sensitive information to individuals and groups 5) Strong influencing and negotiating skills
