- Confirm adequate preparations for work with radiation including the use of HPC Permit to work system.
- Perform radiation monitoring at the barrier during the exposure, ensuring the barriers continue to be placed correctly.
- Prior to handing the area back, confirm the work is complete and that all sources and equipment have been removed from the area.
- Generate important compliance records.
- Perform monitoring to support a radiological incident.
- Ensure adequate resourcing of shift rotas and training to ensure radiography work is supported.
- Spend time on Site supervising Back/Night shift work ensuring the welfare of Technicians.
- Assist in recruitment and onboarding of resources.
- Review and assess radiation exposure and documentation with adept use of I.T.
- Receive/Dispatch new radiography sources to the site and ensure they are correctly registered and logged into the store and records generated.
- Ensure all radiography sources are correctly signed out and returned to the store, verifying that the necessary paperwork is in place for the radiography task before the source is issued
- Perform periodic source inventory checks
- Perform periodic radiation and contamination surveys of the store.
- Liaise with the NNB Approved Dosimetry Service for the storage, issue and return of NNB staff legal dosimetry.
- Ensure an adequate stock of R.P. instruments & Dosimeters used by the independent RP team are at the site are sent for repair and calibration and are stored to avoid damage.
- Ensure adequate maintenance and testing of the facility to ensure safe operations.
- GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths and English.
- City and Guilds in Radiation Protection Grade I or equivalent
- A minimum of 3 years experience as a qualified Radiation Protection Technician / Health Physics Monitor within an organisation.
- A working knowledge of the Ionising Radiations Regulations 2017 (IRR17) as it applies to this role.
- Competent I.T. worker.
- Compliant with work instruction and accurate record keeping,
- Demonstrable knowledge of IRR2017 to be able to be appointed as a Radiation Protection Supervisor.
- A nationally recognised Level 2 qualification in Radiological Protection / Health Physics Monitoring (e.g., City and Guilds Stage 2, NVQ (National Vocational Qualifications) Level 2 Diploma, Level 2 Underpinning Knowledge Certificate)
- Experience of performing radiation monitoring during radiography work
- Experience of working on a nuclear licensed site.
- Experience of managing inventories of instruments, radioactive sources.

Radiography Support SupervisorJob Purpose/Overview:
This role is required to support Clients oversight and assurance arrangements for work with ionising radiation at the HPC construction site.
Primarily this will be to support the preparation and execution of industrial radiography on the site but include other work with ionising radiation.
This will involve the management of radioactive sources and equipment stored in a central store which you will be responsible for and independent confirmation that a radiography area has been established to the correct standards.
Critical compliance checks of inventory, routine radiation monitoring of the radioactive source store will generate important records that need to be kept.
As a supervisor of shift radiological protection technicians, you will support the independent oversight, supervision, and monitoring of the radiography, reducing the risks to workers from unplanned events and the potential delays to the construction schedule.
The role will also be expected to support the preparations for radiography tasks, and due to the nature of radiography, the role requires frequent work mostly on evenings, nights and weekends.
The radiological protection technicians supervised will be expected to liaise with contractors to ensure the safe and timely execution of the work.
The supervisor role will work seamlessly as part of the Radiation Protection function and report to the Radiological Protection Manager.
