About us
Francis House Childrens Hospice was established in 1990, thefifth childrens hospice.
The hospice developed out of the work of the CatholicChildrens Rescue Society, the Salford Diocese adoption and fostering society.
Our philosophy has remained a constant throughout our thirtyyears and comes from a belief in the sanctity of life and the dignity of theindividual. We aim to care for the sick young people as individuals, each withtheir own needs. Care is available to families regardless of faith or culturalbackgrounds.
The following guidelines set us apart from most childrenshospices
i) Once accepted onto our roll young people can use theservice for as long as they wish or until they die. We have no upper age limit.
ii) Care is provided for the whole family.
iii)As statutory provision for most of our families is limited, we provide additional services for them rather than entering into Service Agreements with the Integrated Care Boards.
We care for our families in a home from home environmenteven though Clinical Care is of the highest standard.
Our reputation as a centre of excellence is recognisedworldwide and we have assisted in the establishment of childrens hospiceservices in Belarus, Bosnia Herzegovina and Japan. We are currently speaking tothe Czech Republic and Australia.
Our expenditure last year was £ million of which 15% camefrom public grants.
A full range of our services is detailed on our website .
