Are you an experienced Finance Manager looking for the next step in your career?

We're looking for someone to manage the internal finance function, reporting to both local Partners and our colleagues in Ireland. This is a new role and brings with it the opportunity to becoming a core member of the management team in the UK and Ireland.

Established in 1926, Dains is an independent firm of chartered accountants and business advisers specialising in advising growing SME businesses. The firm currently employs over 650 staff including 62 Partners & Directors.

Our core services are Accountancy and Business Advisory, Audit, Corporate Finance, Forensic Accounting, and Taxation alongside outsourced FD and HR support. We deliver these services with a focus on our core values of Valued Relationships, Fairness, Working & Succeeding Together and Integrity. Requirements

Prepare management information to tight deadlines

Produce key performance reports on time; including but not limited to WIP and debtor review, billing and recoveries, chargeable hours performance and utilisation, and cash-flow projections

Preparing monthly statistical information for the practice and using analytical procedures, accounting ratios and other benchmarking techniques to assess the performance within the firm

Preparing inter-department and inter-company transfers monthly; this includes time for staff working on assignments other than their primary responsibility

Ensure spending, including overheads, are in line with the budget

Maintain and monitor the time and fees ledger information; specifically concerning staffing (including but not limited to charge-out rates, utilisation, chargeable hours and budgets) and reporting on any inconsistencies

Producing all financial budgets

VAT returns

Working closely with the Company Partners & Group FC as required

Attributes

ACA/ACCA qualification is essential. (If not qualified, there must be a desire and commitment to becoming qualified)

Highly diligent with excellent attention to detail

Strong awareness of the technical aspects concerning limited company accounts, including preparation of the file

Awareness of the current auditing and accounting standards

Experience in software and systems such as Practice Engine, Accounts IQ, Surf Account, Sage is desirable, but not essential

Understanding of relevant Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel) and any other packages relevant
