    Description
    IT Security Engineer
    • Location: Worcester
    • Job Type: Full-time
    • Starting Salary: £58,191

    We are looking for an IT Security Officer to provide professional guidance and specialist advice on all Digital Services related security and risk matters. The successful candidate will ensure the implementation of necessary policies, procedures, processes, and risk management plans to achieve compliance with national codes of connection for information systems. This role is essential in supporting the maintenance of security standards and effective risk management plans within the organisation.

    Day-to-day of the role:

    • Lead on all aspects of Digital Services security as the design authority.
    • Provide expert advice and guidance on security management, strategies, policies, and practices.
    • Assess the impact of new legislation, threats, suppliers, services, and solutions on Digital Services security.
    • Develop and maintain technical policies and standards to ensure compliance with security frameworks and standards.
    • Influence Digital Services security governance, strategy, policy, planning, assurance, procedures, and practices.
    • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in Digital Services Security.
    • Lead security investigations and represent the department on security groups and governance meetings.
    • Design and oversee vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits.
    • Maintain a security incident response capability and provide expertise to major incident teams.

    Required Skills & Qualifications:

    • Recognised Security Qualifications such as CISSP, CCP, or equivalent.
    • Extensive knowledge of IT Standards and Techniques, including ISO 27001 and HMG's Cloud Security Principles.
    • Experience in designing, developing, and implementing ICT security policies.
    • Proven track record as a corporate lead on ICT Security matters.
    • Experience in technical security audit and accreditation activities.
    • Knowledge of vulnerability assessments, penetration tests, and security audits.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.

    Special Conditions:

    • Participation in management on-call rota.
    • Occasional travel may be required.
