    Parkopedia is the world's leading connected car services provider used by millions of drivers and organisations such as Apple, Here, TomTom and 20 automotive brands ranging from Audi to Volkswagen.

    Parkopedia has the mission of providing the best in-car data and transaction services to make mobility ecological, efficient and convenient.

    The Transactions engineering team is responsible for Parkopedia's cutting-edge in-car commerce platform, enabling drivers to pay for fueling and parking from within their vehicle.

    We are part of a global team, but this role is based in the UK at our London office, which is a short walk from London Bridge.

    Parkopedia maintains a flexible location policy (hybrid) but the role will require on average around 4 days per month in the office.

    ResponsibilitiesAs a back-end developer, you'll work primarily with PHP 8, Laravel 10 and AWS to deliver new features and improved reliability, maintainability, security and testability to our in-car payments platform.

    You will participate in Scrum ceremonies and work with your colleagues, stakeholders and third parties, to align on requirements and deliver a user experience you can be proud of.

    The role requires solid and demonstrable experience designing, documenting, building, deploying and maintaining RESTful APIs, which can operate at scale on AWS.You will appreciate the benefits of TDD/BDD, ensuring all code is tested and reviewed to the highest standards, and adapt quickly to changing environments, concepts and emerging technologies to assist in the future roadmap of our products.

    As a team, we are responsible for the health of the systems we build.

    You should understand performance tuning and optimisation, and how to diagnose technical issues across local, pre-release and production environments running on AWS.We operate a DevOps culture and are responsible for developing, deploying, operating and monitoring our team's deliverables.

    RequirementsExperienced and seasoned as a senior developer with PHP and Laravel with a focus on RESTful APIsCommercial experience with AWS and IaC (Terraform/CDK/CloudFormation)Understanding of API security, common exploits and secure development practices, including the OWASP Top 10Strong MySQL competencies, familiarity with design patterns, ORM tools, performance tuning and administration/troubleshooting in a replicated environmentSolid understanding of testing methodologies and frameworks like PHPUnitCommercial experience with Linux, Docker, Docker Compose, Git and RedisBenefitsParkopedia is committed to building a great work environment for all our employees.
