    ALSTOM background
    Description

    Req ID: 449290

    Salary: £35,000 with excellent benefits

At Alstom, we understand transport networks and what moves people. From high-speed trains, metros, monorails, and trams, to turnkey systems, services, infrastructure, signalling and digital mobility, we offer our diverse customers the broadest portfolio in the industry. Every day, 80,000 colleagues lead the way to greener and smarter mobility worldwide, connecting cities as we reduce carbon and replace cars.

Alstom is the UK & Ireland's leading supplier of new trains, train services, and signalling infrastructure projects. It has built just under 40% of the UK's mainline train fleet, all the fleets currently in service with London Underground and Dublin's LUAS.

Employing 6,000 people across the UK and Ireland, we design, build and test trains at the UK's largest end-to-end train manufacturing factory in Derby and operate major sites at Widnes, Crewe, Ilford and Plymouth, as well as 30 train services depots across the UK&I

    Your future role

You will be responsible for the continuation of supply chain strategy and relationship with nominated suppliers, placing and expediting purchase orders and MRP generated schedules. Monitoring supplier performance and ensuring periodic performance reviews will also be a key part of the role while dealing with pricing queries, management of inventory parameters and stock reduction for designated parts.

    We'll look to you for:

  • Validation of material demand.
  • Create and manage Purchase Orders / Schedules and related processes.
  • Expedite material deliveries to ensure OTD targets are achieved.
  • Manage Sap exception messages daily.
  • Challenge, mitigate and negotiate costs and report savings in SMIS.

  • Conduct Supplier performance reviews covering OTD, NCRs and cost.
  • Report KPI's and identify mitigation plans for poor performing suppliers.
  • Pro-actively maintain inventory parameters for designated parts to provide the optimum balance between inventory cost and service level.
  • Ensure SAP inventory parameter settings are accurate at all times.
  • Negotiate PO changes with suppliers to ensure due dates and quantities are aligned to fluctuations in Operations requirements.
  • Stock management in line with departmental objectives.
  • Drive reductions in supplier lead times and costs.
  • Implement supply chain solutions with regular suppliers e.g. Service Exchange, VMI, 2-bin, Kanbans, Consignments, to minimise inventory costs and improve service level.
  • Using LEAN principles, identify areas for improvement in the SCC process.
  • Process supplier RFQs to support both project and external customers.
  • Liaise between suppliers and customers on M&D costs on rotables.
  • Prioritise expediting for UVS requirements.
  • All about you

  • Experience in deployment of Supply Chain Management strategies.
  • Inventory management practices & techniques.

  • Excellent communicator including presentation skills.
  • Good analytical skills. Competent on Excel at Intermediate level.
  • Things you'll enjoy

Join us on a life-long transformative journey – the rail industry is here to stay, so you can grow and develop new skills and experiences throughout your career.

  • Contribute to innovative projects.
  • Steer your career in whatever direction you choose across functions and countries.
  • Benefit from our investment in your development, through award-winning learning.
  • Benefit from a fair and dynamic reward package that recognises your performance and potential, plus comprehensive and competitive social coverage (life, medical, pension)
  • You don't need to be a train enthusiast to thrive with us. We guarantee that when you step onto one of our trains with your friends or family, you'll be proud. If you're up for the challenge, we'd love to hear from you
