    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity has arisen at Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for an enthusiastic individual to join our dynamic and professional finance team as a Deputy Finance Manager in one of the Corporate or Clinical Services. We can offer the right individual the opportunity to train towards a professional qualification in Accountancy, such as CIMA, whilst developing their personal skills and work-based experience. This great opportunity will give the successful post-holder the chance to progress a financial career within the National Health Service. We're looking for someone who is reliable, has flair and commitment to achieving their goals and the Trust's goals, and will fully contribute to the team spirit.     Main duties of the job

    The major responsibilities of the role are working with and assisting the Finance Manager in providing robust, accurate and timely information to budget holders. You will also assist with the monthly production of internal management accounts and liaising with relevant budget holders to gather and disseminate information and help them understand their financial position and develop their services. There is also responsibility for management of a support team consisting of Band 5 and Band 3 staff.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Full professional accountancy qualification (CCAB / CIMA member) or passed finalist or qualified by experience.
  • Educated to Degree level 2:2 or equivalent

    • Desirable

  • ECDL or other advanced Microsoft Office qualification

    • Experience

    Essential

  • Significant experience of financial management within a healthcare environment
  • Staff management experience
  • Experience of all aspects of financial management
  • Experience of business case development
  • Experience of the full budget setting process
  • Experience of working in a large organisation with complex management structures.

    • Desirable

  • Working with a Programme Management Office (PMO)
  • Managing and maintaining a financial CIP / QIPP tracker

    • Skills

    Essential

  • Ability to work autonomously within an agreed framework.
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, with all medical and non-medical staff. Ability to explain complex financial and non-financial concepts and information to a range of audiences.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, including presentation skills.
  • Attention to detail / accuracy under pressure.
  • Advanced analytical skills / complex problem solving. Ability to analyse and make sense of very large and complex datasets
  • Advanced IT skills, including advanced Excel skills and experience of electronic accounting systems.

  • Ability to write and use macros / visual basic for Microsoft Office products. Ability to design databases in Microsoft Access.
