About The Service
The Education and Lifelong Learning Directorate provides the strategic, professional and operational support to enable the Council to fulfil its responsibilities for early years education, statutory age education, education in school sixth forms and a youth service. There are 128 schools in Cardiff consisting of 3 nursery schools, 99 Primary Schools, 18 Secondary Schools, 7 Special Schools & 1 Pupil Referral Unit. There are 53,715 learners on a school roll from Nursery to National Curriculum Year 11 (ages and 3,280 learners on roll post-16. A total of 56,995 learners in Cardiff schools as at January 2023. There are also an additional 338 learners Educated Other Than At School (EOTAS), 308 pre-16 and 30 post-16. The work of the Directorate is organised into six service areas: Partnerships & Performance, Inclusion Services, Targeted Services, Key Groups, Services to Schools, and School Organisation and Access and Planning. Each of these supports the overall purpose of improving the achievement of learners. The Directorate also commissions the Central South Consortium to provide School Improvement Services to all of its schools. About the job This exciting opportunity, within the innovative and pro-active Information Systems Team, is to support the digitalisation of services and drive a cultural change in the use of management information systems within the Education Directorate. To work with managers and staff across the Directorate along with our Schools to support the maintenance and development of core data and management information systems for provision of high quality and performance information, by ensuring the quality and reliability of data being used within the Education & Lifelong Learning Directorate. The position benefits from excellent professional development opportunities. What We Are Looking For From You The Education Directorate is seeking an experienced, innovative officer to support the transformation of business processes and management information systems; providing the technical knowledge and expertise to ensure the accuracy of data quality of data collection, storage and reporting methods. The postholder will work with managers, staff, ICT and Schools to ensure and optimise the flow of data accuracy within the central Education Management System to meet service requirements. The postholder will need to be competent users of databases and reporting tools, be extremely motivated and be able to identify and resolve problems to deliver positive solutions, as well as having a high level of attention to detail. This is a key post and pivotal to the delivery of information management improvement plans within the Directorate.
