    Description

    Head of Finance | £65-75k | Public Sector Organisation | Permanent | Hybrid, 2 days in Wilmslow

    This Head of Finance position is an exciting opportunity to join a public sector organisation. This diverse role would be a vital position to effectively lead and develop the finance team and deliver both operational financial support to the organisation, provide technical expertise and support in delivering their long term strategy.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Reporting into the Director of Finance and line manage 3 members of staff
    • Planning for year-end including delivery of accurate and timely reporting
    • Overseeing statutory reporting and delivering both quarterly and yearly accounts prep.
    • Coordinating financial processes across the department and supplying opportunities for improvement across both systems and policies
    • Oversee the annual budgeting process
    • Preparing and updating Management Accounts, investigating variances, and identifying areas for improvement
    • Working closely with internal stakeholders to provide support and up to date information
    • Oversee the transactional finance function ensuring accuracy across AP/AR and payroll.
    • Identify and implement opportunities to transform and improve the performance of the end to end Finance service to deliver service excellence to internal and external stakeholders.

    Person Specification

    • A fully qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA/CIPFA)
    • A strong and capable manager with previous management experience
    • Experience of working in the public sector
    • Understanding of working in a complex finance function
    • Experience of leading the year-end and a competent Excel user
