    Job summary

    Anexciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Practice Nurse / Nurse Manager at FallodonWay Medical Centre to join our experienced and dedicated nursing team. The team consists of 2 Practice Nurses, 2 Assistant Practitioners and 3 HCAs.

    Main duties of the job

    As Lead Nurse you will focus on your clinical duties and be responsible for the line management of the team and infection control. Admin duties will include some aspects of QoF, appointment book structure and co-ordination of seasonal clinics. We are particularly interested in hearing from candidates competent in diabetes care.

    Thepractice combines the best of traditional and innovative working, currently with5 Partners and 4 Associate GPs. The practice is both proactive and reactive aboutmanaging the ever-changing workload in General Practice, offering a supportiveenvironment and good work-life balance.

    Thepractice is supported by ANPs, a Pharmacy team including two Practice Pharmacists,an Award-winning Care Coordination team, a Social Prescriber, First ContactPhysio and Mental Health Practitioner. There is a team of workflowadministrators assisting the clinical team in managing inbound correspondenceand results.

    JOB TITLE: LEAD PRACTICE NURSE

    REPORTS TO: THE NOMINATED PARTNER(Clinically)

    THE PRACTICE MANAGER(Administratively)

    HOURS: hrs perweek

    Job Summary:

    Tolead the nursing department in meeting practice objectives, by maintainingclinical nursing standards and supervising / developing staff to their fullpotential. To provide a nursing service, focussed on LTC care, to the practicepopulation.

    Roles/Specifictasks

    A) Clinical

    Provisionof nursing care within agreed competencies, which is likely to include:

    LongTerm Conditions care (to meet QoF targets)

    Cytology

    Woundcare

    TravelClinic

    Vacsand Imms, including Baby clinic

    Familyplanning

    Research

    B) Managerial

    Supervisestaff to maintain required professional standards

    Supervisestaff to adhere to FW internal protocols

    Toassist practice in developing nursing staff to meet their own potential andfulfil practice objectives.

    Maintainnursing procedures, ensuring staff comprehend requirements and adhere to agreedprotocol.

    Actas Infection Control Lead, advising and training colleagues as needed.

    Ensureother nursing staff undertake agreed duties, and that there are adequate staffpresent to meet the practice needs.

    Undertakestaff annual appraisals (alongside PM)

    TheJob holder will manage her own development and training to maintain her skills,including any mandatory aspects to training and/or qualifications needed. Thejob holder will undertake a sufficient number of procedures to maintain skilllevels, eg phlebotomy, but may notnormally undertake this type of procedures during standard daily duties.

    Suchother tasks as the Partners or Practice Manager may reasonably request.

  • Registered Nurse
