    Within Cardiology we have expanded our Cardiac Catheter Labs and Cardiac Day ward resulting in additional pre assessment job opportunities.

    The pre assessment nurse will join an established team to deliver high quality compassionate care to elective cardiac patients.

    Within this role it will be your responsibility for providing specialist nursing advice to facilitate high quality individualised care to patients requiring pre assessment within the department of cardiology.

    You will be required to assess patients both in clinic and or over the telephone.

    You will work with the multi-disciplinary teams within Cardiology, as well as GP's and Anaesthetists, to provide effective assessment ensuring our patients and their families/carers receive excellent preparation for their procedures.

    You will play an important role in assessing patients for procedures in our Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, which include Arrhythmia and Interventional Cardiology.

    The post holder will work five days per week Monday to Friday.

    Manage virtual waiting list, update and attend weekly MDT. Report incidents, complaints to line manager utilising datix reporting system.


    Prepare elective patients undergoing cardiac surgery by ensuring elective patients have pre assessment and inpatients have all the correct investigatory tests performed prior to their surgery in accordance to hospital protocol.

    Demonstrate and develop specialist knowledge and skills relating to the impact of patient condition and co-morbidities in terms of outcomes and level of care required

    Maintain a clean, safe environment ensuring adherence to Trust standards of cleanliness, hygiene and infection control at all times.

    Extensive experience in Cardiac Nursing (minimum 5 years acute cardiology experience including minimum three years as Band 6 )
    Has attained a Degree in management/professional nursing issues
    Managing patients with cardiac conditions and arrhythmias
    Experience/qualifications in counselling
