    Job Summary

    We are excited to present a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist opportunity within the Lewisham CAMHS service. This position has become available as the previous post holder departed after over 10 years to pursue a management role.

    We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic consultant to join our team and contribute to the Neurodevelopment team (NDT) and Crisis. The ideal candidate will have a genuine interest in working with young individuals in challenging circumstances.

    • Manage young individuals with Autism and/or Intellectual Disabilities and mental health issues
    • Lead and provide expertise in assessing and treating young people and families
    • Collaborate with the ADHD treatment team and other prescribers

    The role also includes working part-time with the Crisis team, delivering support to the Emergency Department and short stay wards at University Hospital Lewisham.

    Main Duties of the Job

    This position's responsibilities are divided into contributions with the NDT and Crisis Team. It involves engaging in structured professional activities and actively participating in service development and clinical governance.

    • Assessment and management of children and young people
    • Supervising junior medical staff
    • Leading clinical meetings and communicating with various teams
    • Providing clinical leadership and advice to other teams
    • Participating in training and peer supervision meetings
    • Adhering to job plan and GMC revalidation requirements

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • MRCPsych membership or equivalent

    Desirable

    • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists
    • Relevant qualifications in medical education, research, or management

    Eligibility

    Essential

    • Fully registered with the GMC and Section 12 approved
    • Approved Clinician status or eligibility

    Training and Experience

    Essential

    • Experience in Outpatient/Community Child and Adolescent Psychiatry
    • Specialized knowledge in neurodevelopmental conditions
    • Skills in capacity assessment and safeguarding

    Desirable

    • Experience in Paediatric liaison service and Crisis Team
    • Expertise in therapeutic interventions and service development

    Academic Skills and Lifelong Learning

    Essential

    • Participation in audit, teaching, and research
    • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
    • Eligibility to work in the UK

    Desirable

    • Experience in delivering teaching and training
    • Involvement in clinical research and service improvement
    • Leadership in quality improvement projects and publications
