    Job summary

    This Director of Performance role is newly created to perform a key role within the corporate leadership team of the Trust. The postholder will continue the development of the high-performance culture across the Trust, ensuring best practice in measuring performance, identifying and escalating risks, and working with our teams to plan and deliver the right interventions and improvements.

    Main duties of the job

    The successful candidate will have strong analytical and presentational skills and a detailed working knowledge of the delivery of NHS performance standards, most likely in an operational or financial management setting. You will also be adept at leading teams, be aligned our values of being ambitious, brave and compassionate and be skilled at forming effective working relationships with clinical and management teams.

    In this role you will represent the Trust in meetings with Birmingham and Solihull system partners, our regulators, and stakeholders so should feel confident developing rapport with others inside and outside the NHS.

    Essential

  • Education to degree level
  • Evidence of personal development at senior management level
  • Desirable

  • Formal management qualification and/or proven and significant leadership experience
  • Knowledge and Nature of Experience

    Essential

  • Extensive specialist knowledge derived from significant experience and expertise working at a strategic level.
  • Experience of working at a senior level in performance and/or operational roles
  • Sound understanding of the key drivers of financial and non-financial performance of NHS commissioners and provider organisations
  • Excellent understanding of the NHS performance agenda
  • Expertise in delivering and sustaining performance improvement at an organisational level
  • Understanding of the potential use of Information and BI and the benefits it can bring
  • Understanding of risk management and mitigation
  • Experience of implementing dashboards in large complex organisations
  • Experience of working in partnerships with colleagues and external agencies to develop performance monitoring and management systems
  • Detailed knowledge of BI, Performance and IG in the NHS
  • Detailed knowledge of Managing Portfolios, Programmes and Projects
  • Experience of delivering presentations to large groups of stakeholders in often pressured and politically sensitive environments
  • Experience of strategic planning, decision making and implementing organisational change.

  • Knowledge of GDPR and Data Dictionary
  • Good understanding of financial regime within an NHS Trust
  • Broad understanding of Clinical Coding and Data Quality
  • Extensive experience of supporting and developing senior staff members, some of whom will be professionals in their field in the approaches and implementation of strategic and operational performance management
  • Experience and/or understanding of the UK Health Economy and policy. Interpreting this policy to local needs and requirements
