- Manage all live technical cases to include sample analysis, new product design and costings.
- Responsible for the fabric design and development of WIS products, including all parts, weaving and laboratory specifications and performance checks and reports.
- Generate statistically robust technical specifications for all data analysis, yarn suppliers, fabrics constructions and external processing requirements.
- Responsible for the product quality of WIS products, monitoring the yarn and fabric, understanding the product requirements and problem solving as appropriate.
- Responsible for the technical sign-off of all incoming orders.
- Identify improvement opportunities for fabric construction and cost reduction.
- Maintain appropriate levels of contact with suppliers (including tradeshows) in regard to sourcing, specifications and quality.
- Ensure customers are provided with the appropriate level of technical support.
- Responsible for raising health and safety alerts as and when required.
- Ensure all staff adhere to all company processes such as standard work, 5S, Risk Assessments (RAs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure departmental 5S is maintained and improvements are highlighted and actioned.
- Continually work within the 5S framework and instigate improvements where deemed necessary.
- Ensure that standard work checks are being completed and the process followed, managing actions as necessary to drive improvements.
- Implement continuous improvement practices, including appropriate kaizen events on relevant quality processes through enforcement of quality tools and best practice.
- Support and manage improvement events and use lean manufacturing principles, as and when required.
- Make recommendations based on knowledge and experience for developing the Company business strategy.
- Identify and manage projects within the Company that drive improvement. Involve appropriate stakeholders in deciding which projects to progress.
- Work as part of the management team to ensure all business objectives are met, maximising opportunities for the business and individuals to develop.
- Provide leadership to all direct reports and respective teams, ensuring the Company's values are part of daily routines and behaviours.
- Promote and encourage an environment focused on delivering a world class service, with a positive employee culture.
- Resolve all issues and disputes, to ensure the smooth running of the department.
- Investigate any perceived breach in company policy and take the appropriate action.
- Ensure knowledge is kept up to date by evidenced Continued Professional Development (CPD).
- Management and leadership of the team, identifying any training and development requirements as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with all necessary legislation and audit requirements at all times.
- Ensure the Health and Safety Policy is implemented, and the obligations are met according to the health and safety procedure – HS001.
- Ensure Environment Policy is adhered to.
- Degree level in a scientific field, preferably textile or polymer based, or relevant experience in textile manufacturing.
- Scientific methodology with an analytical approach to problem solving using expertise to proactively assure requirements are understood and satisfied, including leading complaint resolution and root cause and corrective action execution.
- Analyses organizational quality metrics and performs periodic reviews to evaluate results and recommend action plans to close gaps at an operational level.
- Develops and analyses statistical data and product/process performance to recommend and implement improvements in targeted areas
- Management skills - proven leadership experience - supporting and driving the Technical Team providing expertise and ensuring product and process quality requirements are implemented through Company Policies and Quality Best Practice deployment
