    Job Summary

    10 Hammersmith Broadway is a contemporary sexual health service in central West London. The primary aspect of the role is results management, which involves recalling patients with sexually transmitted infections for treatment and/or partner notification. The role also includes clinical responsibilities like direct patient care under supervision, supporting the multidisciplinary team in providing high-quality care to patients seeking sexual, reproductive, and HIV health services. Additional duties encompass housekeeping and administration tasks to maintain a safe environment for both patients and staff.

    As an Assistant Practitioner, you will play a key role in mentoring and guiding junior team members. We are seeking motivated individuals with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, who can collaborate effectively in a dynamic sexual health setting. In return, you will join a team of experienced Health Advisors, Doctors, sexual health/HIV nurses, and admin staff dedicated to delivering top-notch patient care.

    Main duties of the job:

    • The assistant practitioner is responsible for results management, including recalling patients with sexually transmitted infections for treatment or partner notification.
    • Clinical duties involve direct patient care under supervision and supporting the multidisciplinary team in delivering high-quality care to patients seeking sexual, reproductive, and HIV health services.
    • Other responsibilities include housekeeping and administration tasks to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff.

    Job Responsibilities:

    Roles and Responsibilities

    • Assist Registered Nurses/Health Advisers/Doctors in their daily responsibilities.
    • Work flexibly within the West London Centre/Hammersmith Broadway.
    • Participate in the recall of patients with sexually transmitted infections needing treatment or partner notification.
    • Contribute to the text service for patients receiving results.
    • Provide direct patient care, clerical, reception, and administrative support while ensuring a safe environment for clients and staff.
    • Work under the supervision of the Nursing and Health Adviser team.
    • Supervise medical supplies' ordering and stock levels.
    • Offer training and leadership to Health Care Assistants and engage in their mentorship/management.
    • Operate within existing competencies while continually developing skills.
    • Maintain high care standards, manage time, tasks, and resources efficiently.
    • Ensure the clinic's environment is clean, safe, and welcoming to patients. The role may require evening and weekend work, including Sundays if the service expands to a seven-day week.

    Person Specification

    Education and Qualifications

    • Essential
    • Demonstrate literacy and numeracy skills.
    • Evidence of further education at NVQ level or above.
    • Evidence of Secondary Education.
    • Desirable
    • Knowledge/skills in sexual health and HIV.
    • Experience

      • Essential
      • Proven experience in an NHS admin or clinical role/setting or equivalent customer care experience.
      • Collaboration within a multidisciplinary team.
      • Desirable
      • Clinical experience in the HIV/GUM field and basic knowledge of STIs and HIV.
      • Experience coordinating a patient-focused results service.
      • Telephone interaction experience with patients.
      • Skills and Knowledge

        • Essential
        • Demonstrate knowledge of equality and diversity.
        • Understand the importance of confidentiality, Information Governance, and Risk management in the NHS.
        • Proficient in Keyboard/IT clerical skills, including Word and Excel.
        • Desirable
