    Our VAT specialists work closely with colleagues across the firm to provide a joined-up service to a diverse range of clients, from middlemarket businesses to large corporations, combining expertise in accounting,audit and all relevant taxes.

    I started at RSM in 2018 on the school leaver apprenticeship programmein VAT.

    RSM is very flexible inallowing people to do pursue the career path that suits them, I started out inthe Reading office initially, and then was able to transfer to London to focuson a more national role within the team.

    About the role This is a fantastic opportunity to join a growing team at an exciting part of the journey, working on a hybrid basis and reaping the rewards of being at home and in the office on a weekly basis.

    The variety of projects will challenge you every day, helping you expand your capabilities and grow professionally.

    Thepurpose of this opportunity is, together with the existing Director and Partnergroup, to manage a group of clients and the firm, ensuring the agreedexpectations in terms of service, quality, and cost are met.

    Helping the business grow its existing portfolio of work by leveraging existing relationships within the firm and by spearheading marketing campaigns.

    Assisting in review and quality control procedures and the administration of the department where required.
    Attending staff meetings and training as required.

    Theideal candidate will have previous experience of working at Senior Manager or AssociateDirector level within VAT, with strong client management and businessdevelopment skills.

    You will be confident in delivering advisory work with thedesire to develop junior members of staff and facilitate a great teamenvironment.

    Able to work independently as well as part of a local team and national service line.

    I merrily thought Iwould have a choice of the Foreign Office, the MOD or the Home Office only to betold I was joining HMRC and my options were VAT or Excise neither of which Ihad heard of at the time.

    From that uncertainstart came a love of this tax; I found that I lovedtalking to the tax people that shared my passion and the business leaders thatdidn't but needed someone to help them understand the impact on theircommercial transactions.

    It is a true privilegeto lead and help grow my service line and to nurture people who joined us atthe start of their careers, helping them grow and find their own path bothprofessionally and personally.

    Some of my best moments have been conversationswith team members telling them they have been successful in achieving the nextstep in their career progression journey.

    In the next few years, theadministration of tax and our tax business will change significantly due to theincreased use of technology and automation by us, our clients and by taxauthorities around the world.
