Head of Project Management Office - Gateshead, Tyne and Wear, United Kingdom - Aspire Technology Solutions

    Default job background
    £70,000 - £80,000
    Description

    About Aspire

At Aspire Technology Solutions, we look for dynamic individuals who want to work for one of the fastest growing IT and Cyber Security providers in the UK. It is an exciting time to join us on our journey as we grow and expand

Our mission: To deliver technology like no other

    About the role

We are looking for an experienced and inspiring Head of Project Management Office (PMO) with an ability to solve problems and find solutions by working closely with other parts of the business whilst delivering within demanding time scales.

Reporting directly to the Chief Finance Officer, the Head of PMO will lead a team of high performing project managers. This team will oversee the delivery of all projects for new and existing clients. Projects for new clients will typically comprise onboarding and transition to ongoing support whilst projects for existing clients can span a range of consultancy and 'one-off' activities across the full range of our services. The role would also oversee our procurement team given the close interaction that exists with the projects team and the efficiency we think this will drive.

Our ideal candidate would have significant experience in the technology and/or MSP space implementing projects at scale using a combination of project management, leadership and technical skills. Technical skills would ideally include a good understanding of Connectivity, Cloud, Managed Security, Unified Communications and Managed IT services, products and commercials.

Strong communication skills will help you to liaise with other areas of the business to drive the efficient and effective delivery of projects by leveraging expertise across the various business functions. You will have responsibility for the successful delivery of work including that performed by teams outside of your direct reports, with the necessary authority and influence.

As part of this responsibility, you will have ownership of managing budgets and commercial decisions including prioritisation of specific projects. You will be involved from relatively early in the project design phase so will have the ability to influence the commercial terms of the project. This position requires a balance of energy, careful management of internal and external stakeholders and cultural leadership but most importantly a solution and problem-solving mindset.

This is a great opportunity to join the Aspire leadership team in a varied and interesting role as part of a critical team in a business which is fast paced, entrepreneurial and growing rapidly.

    What you will be doing

    • Lead and empower the PMO team through day-to-day people management to drive continuous improvement and maintain the team's engagement and professional development.
    • Providing management of all elements of project teams across the business including

    • Providing guidance, support and decision making on deployment issues, project issues, scope issues, commercial issues, planning and resourcing
    • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships and good communication with members of the rest of Aspire's leadership team
    • Working closely with the CFO and Finance team in forecasting and influencing the financial implications of the project pipeline
    • Ensuring teams work to strict time frames, prioritising and managing workload effectively
    • Supporting continual improvement by identifying opportunities to do things better and more efficiently including adopting new technology and processes.
    • Developing a customer focussed outcome based culture
    • Embracing innovation and technology to drive continuous improvement

You will suit the role if you have

    • Demonstrable knowledge of the technology market. Experience in MSP/cyber security and/or connectivity and unified communications industries would be particularly advantageous
    • A proven track record of leading a team in a senior position, delivering projects for end customers.
    • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to make decisions, lead change and get things done.
    • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues and customers at all levels, to diagnose and resolve issues.
    • Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills to manage and prioritise tasks.
    • A strong match with our values and culture including a positive 'can-do' attitude and collaborative approach to problem solving.

    Our values

We understand that you might not currently have absolutely all of the qualifications and experiences that we think are key to succeeding in this role, therefore we provide continuous learning and development at Aspire which is at the heart of everything we do.
