    Bristol City Council

    Contract Type:

    Permanent

    Hours:

Both full and part time roles available. 18.5 hours or 37 hours

    Location:

    Bristol

    Details of Role:

Do you have a community development heart and a project management head?
The Communities Service is about growing the power of communities by working collaboratively with citizens, communities and the voluntary sector as well as across the council and with city partners.
The Community Resources Team and The Communities Programmes Team are both part of this service, working hard behind the scenes to deliver projects and programmes which enable great work in the voluntary sector.
These roles are about enabling the smooth operation of our projects and programmes and strengthening these by using effective systems, planning and data.

These are mostly office-based roles. Our work is focused on enabling communities and organisations to thrive by providing grants, resources and opportunities which grow community power and encourage social action.

We're looking for organised, proactive people with good attention to detail, driven by a belief in social action. In these roles you will support our work which includes delivering and managing grants programmes; developing the Can Do Bristol volunteering platform; and supporting the work of Area Committees in deciding funding to improve the city's neighbourhoods.

You might use your strategic skills to help build on Bristol's voluntary and community response to COVID-19 and the cost of living crisis, looking for opportunities to support the social infrastructure in becoming stronger, more connected and more resilient.

You'll be able to use research and data effectively, with experience of developing and implementing systems to support monitoring, reporting and data management including use of Excel.

We're looking for people with effective facilitation skills and a positive, encouraging approach to our colleagues and partners. Relationships are important to our work, so you will need experience of engaging with a wide range of partners to deliver projects which improve the lives of local communities, using creative communications and tools to bring people together.

You will have an understanding of how inequity, prejudice and discrimination work and be committed to bringing about meaningful change.

If you are a diligent, detail-oriented person and want to use those skills to grow equity, social action and a thriving community and voluntary sector in Bristol, we'd love to hear from you.

These roles may involve some evening and weekend work which will make up your usual working week and which you will be able to take back as flexi time.

    How do I apply?
To be shortlisted for interview you'll need to demonstrate how you meet each of the essential criteria in the Person Specification within the Further Information section of your application. On occasion we will receive high numbers of applications, we may then shortlist against the desirable criteria along with the essential criteria, so if you can, please demonstrate how you meet this in your application.

Please indicate in your application whether you are applying for a part time or full time position.

For permanent Bristol City Council employees, the fixed term post would be a secondment.

For employees who are currently on a fixed term contract with Bristol City Council, the secondment must not extend beyond the end of the fixed term period to ensure there is a substantive post to return to.

If you are currently a casual worker or a member of an employment agency (currently working with Bristol City Council) the post will be a fixed term contract.

Provisional date for Interviews: Monday 17th June 2024
