    Full time or Part time (up to 37 hours per week), Fixed Term 18 months.


    Bristol City Council Arts Development are looking for someone to join the team.

    Join the Arts Development Team and together we will play an integral role in contributing to, supporting, developing and advocating for the arts sector to ensure Bristol continues to be one of the UK's leading creative cities.

    Bristol City Council's Arts Development Officers work within the Culture and Creative Industries team to support and the development and delivery of arts and culture across the city. We need people to join our team who are passionate about supporting the culture sector and making arts and culture accessible to all Bristol citizens. Our mission is to connect people through culture.

    We are look for someone with experience in investment and grant giving. Be highly organised and work effectively on our investments work including the Cultural Investment Programme.

  • Strategic development, planning and project delivery
  • We are looking for a self-motivated, driven, and articulate individual/s with experience of arts/cultural development and grant giving. You will be joining a small team of dedicated and enthusiastic people who have a range of backgrounds and experience working across arts and culture. We take pride in being collaborative, open and working to ensure all voices heard.


    Investment:

    You will manage key elements of the from managing the programme, assessing applications and monitoring investment and impact, to working closely with funded organisations across the city to make sure they are meeting the funding requirement and offering any support they may need.


    Advocacy and support
    :

    You will help to develop and deliver the sector support that will be required over the foreseeable future as the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic and wider economic challenges continue, and advocate for and support artists and organisations within the council and regionally. As part of this you will work collaboratively with the team to support clear communication and marketing, gather evidence and write reports, have a working knowledge of how the sector works and the ability to develop good working relationships.


    Strategic development and projects:


    You will support the delivery of arts/culture programmes. For example we are working on a range of public art and public realm projects from commission connected to large cultural organisation to major development schemes across the city, and projects which will include fundraising, training and reporting. A key part of the role is to offer advice and guidance to artists and organisations.

    You'll be working with a range of people, communities and organisations, ensuring that projects are delivered in accordance with council policies and priorities. We work with teams from across the council as well as externally. The great strength of our team is the breadth of people we work with. We know that by working together with lots of people is how we can make things happen in the city. You will also oversee budgets, developing income generation models and submit funding applications that further support arts sector development.

    You will be based at the Bristol Museum and Art Gallery/Home working. We make sure that the place of work is accessible for everyone.

    All full time posts can be considered for job share. If you would like to apply for a part-time position this will be considered.
