    Description

    This post is for a Band 6 midwife preferable with 2 years' experience to work in community and homebirth intrapartum setting to provide team continuity for homebirth care by an on-call service.

    To observe the NMC Code of Conduct.

    ~ To work within the policies and protocols of Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust and enable all members of the midwifery team to carry out care within these guidelines.

    ~ To maintain effective communication and working relationships within the team and between the team and other Health Care Professionals.

    ~ Including attendance at Trust mandatory training.


    To possess the midwifery skills to undertake midwifery care for a caseload of women during all stages of their pregnancy, intrapartum and postnatal period and to be able to facilitate and provide continuity of carer to women on a low risk care pathway as a small team.

    ~ To actively promote Homebirth/domino/Birth Centre Care for women and support women through their place of birth choice.

    ~ To provide total care to women in liaison with other team members and the multi-disciplinary team to ensure safe high standard of care for mothers and their babies

    ~ To assume responsibility for the safe custody and administration of drugs in accordance with the Trust Policies and Statutory Rules and Regulations.


    To carry out regular Staff Appraisals of midwifery assistants and clerical staff under the direction of the Team Manager, and following appropriate training.
