    Role Purpose

    We are looking for a new Head of Market Intelligence to join our EMEA power research team, with a focus on short-term analysis of European power markets. The EMEA power research team is a talented, collaborative group of analysts producing market-leading research in rapidly evolving markets.

    We work closely with our colleagues across Wood Mackenzie's wider power and renewables research practice, supporting our market views with high-quality analysis of the value chains of solar PV, onshore and offshore wind, and energy storage.

    In this role, you will lead a team providing market-leading analysis and client support for our growing suite of short-term power offerings in Europe. You will be part of the EMEA Power Leadership team and will play a key role in defining and executing on our product roadmap as we build out our offerings in European power, encompassing the provision of real-time data, modelling platforms and market outlooks and forecasts ranging from intra-day right through to long-term outlooks.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Team leadership – line management of team of analysts focusing on our suite of short-term offerings. Define resourcing requirements and lead recruitment for the team as required.
    • Market analysis – Monitor market trends and development and, using our tools, data and models - create a range of insightful forward-looking analysis for clients interested in short-term power markets in Europe. This includes running price predictive models to generate price forecasts for various time horizons. Ensure that client deliverables are aligned with client workflows and contain insightful analysis of industry trends, outcomes, sensitivities, and potentially disruptive influences.
    • Client support – Provide day-to-day support for our clients to ensure they derive maximum benefit from our products – work with relevant internal stakeholders to ensure our offerings are intuitive, reliable and aligned with our clients' needs.
    • Sales support – Work with sales team to engage with prospective clients and other stakeholders to promote our European power offerings.
    • Industry engagement - Build relationships with existing and prospective clients, developing opportunities to demonstrate the scope and value of our research, pursue new business and secure revenue growth.
    • Product Roadmap – Build a compelling 5-year roadmap for the development of our short-term power offerings in the region.

    About You

    You have strong knowledge of short-term power markets in Europe, gained through market analysis at a utility, trader, consultant or other market participant.

    You are analytical and detailed orientated. You have strong data and modelling skills and are able to communicate your ideas in a clear and compelling way, both verbally and in writing. You have a strong understanding of data sources used to support research workflows and are experienced in deploying quality control measures when using such data.
