    Legal and Contracts Manager – Offshore Wind – Edinburgh


    Eden Scott are pleased to be supporting their Offshore Wind client with the appointment of a Legal and Contracts Manager to join their Edinburgh based team.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced legal / contracts professional with strong infrastructure projects experience to join a unique joint venture.

    Reporting to the Project Director, the Legal and Contracts Manager will be responsible for the following activities for our client across both of its offshore wind farm projects:

    General:
    overseeing delivery of legal services and resources to accomplish our clients corporate goals, strategies and priorities.

    Legal advice:

    providing accurate, relevant, and timely legal advice to our client on a variety of legal topics that relate to the offshore wind sector.


    Company Secretary:
    providing company secretarial support to the joint venture.

    Procurement:
    supporting tendering activity to help identify the most commercially attractive options.

    Contract negotiation:
    leading the drafting, review and negotiation of contracts and other agreements entered into by the company.

    Compliance:
    ensuring that the company complies with relevant laws and regulations in its operations and business activities.

    Risk management:
    identifying and managing legal risks that the company may face and implementing strategies to mitigate those risks.

    Staying up to date:

    keeping abreast of changes to legislation, particularly in relation to laws, rules and regulations that directly affect our clients business and industry.


    External Legal:
    communicating with and actively managing external law firms via an external legal framework (to be established).

    Litigation management:
    providing legal oversight over claims and other legal disputes, coordinating with external law firms when necessary to handle litigation

    Supervising staff:
    supervising and delegating work to internal and external legal colleagues.

    Managing legal templates:
    establishing and maintaining a set of appropriate legal templates.

    Insurance:

    leading the insurance aspects of the commercial contracts and coordinating with external insurance advisers to ensure our client is not exposed to risk in insurance cover.


    Requirements:
    A Law Degree and a Practising Certificate.
    Proven experience in offshore infrastructure.
    Effective negotiation skills, with a track record of delivering success in a commercial or engineering environment.
    Ability to provide detailed legal advice and information either verbally or in written form in an easily relatable manner.
    Demonstrable experience in managing external lawyers and assisting internal team members involved in tendering and contract negotiation and contract

    Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to onboard quickly and be instrumental in supporting the teams and being the reference person for any legal matters.


    Salary:
    Up to circa £80,000 (negotiable) plus bonus
    Hybrid Working: 3 days per week from Edinburgh (2 days per week from home)
