    About Us:

THE EXTRAORDINARY STORY OF MR K's RECOVERY

Adult Social Care in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories, where our passionate, caring and committed professionals do brilliant work every day.

Mr K has a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia and was in care for a long period as a child. Before he came to Mental Health (MH) Reablement Mr K had frequent re-admissions to hospital; his risks included social isolation and self-neglect.

Our Independent Living Assessor/ Occupational Therapy Care Manager (OTCM) of the MH Reablement Team worked closely with MR K to support him with his activities of daily living and he became independent in managing laundry, personal care tasks and completing meal preparation. We improved his health and nutrition and reduced hospital admissions. He met his reablement goals and continues to flourish independently within our community.

    The Role:

As a Senior Social Worker / Senior Practitioner in Mental Health, you can make your own powerful contribution to the wellbeing of some of Westminster's most vulnerable and disadvantaged residents. Joining our South Locality Mental Health team, you'll work alongside Central and North West London NHS, as well as local authority colleagues, to offer a joined-up, collaborative approach. Your shared goal will be to provide the best care and support in the community to our service users.

You will contribute to the success of our multidisciplinary team by taking the lead on the social work and providing supervision for social work staff. You will also undertake standard audits and embed professional standards of social work practice and quality assurance. You can expect to carry your own small caseload of complex assessments and court proceedings. You will also take part in overseeing screening, triage and duty service, including risk assessment and safeguarding.

Please refer to the Job Description for more information.

    About You:

You will be a qualified and registered social work professional, with AMHP status is desirable not essential. You will be ready for the challenge of leading others in providing an excellent service for people with severe and enduring mental health problems. Well-developed practice skills should be matched by experience of supervising students and professional staff. You'll be able to define, prioritise and delegate work for others and will have some knowledge of service planning. A flexible and creative approach will support your success in this inclusive, people-centred environment.
