    Stantec is seeking a Major Infrastructure Stakeholder Engagement & Consultation Lead (Associate/ Senior Associate) to join the highly successful and growing Stakeholder Engagement and Consultation Team on a permanent basis. This position would ideally be based in any of our offices in the South of England, although we are happy to consider anywhere in the UK for the right candidate. Our portfolio of clients and work is expanding as the demand for our expertise continues to grow.

    Our projects span a range of consenting regimes, with a key focus on nationally significant infrastructure projects as well as all stages of the project lifecycle, from strategy to requirements discharge and construction. Some of our current projects include Hampshire Water Transfer and Water Recycling project, Sea Link, M3 Junction 9 Improvement, Cheddar 2 reservoir, Poole water recycling scheme and Dart and Tavy bathing waters project to name a few. We have also been awarded positions on some prestigious frameworks for various water companies and local authorities.

    You will be a key member of our national team with your core responsibilities including:

    • Managing the stakeholder and consultation workstream on our Major Infrastructure projects, this involves managing a team to deliver.
    • Developing and implementing stakeholder management strategies
    • Ensuring that the consultation and stakeholder aspects of our applications and the work across our Major Infrastructure projects are compliant with relevant Acts of Parliament or guidance.
    • Preparing documents at different stages in the consenting process e.g. Consultation Strategy, Consultation Report, all consultation materials, Statements of Common Ground.
    • Be responsible for ensuring that all our stakeholder and consultation deliverables are suitable for issue.
    • Managing the Consultation Reports, ensuring DCO compliance
    • Driving the adoption of new technology and approaches to drive improved efficiency in the consultation and stakeholder processes.
    • Managing key relationships with local authorities, statutory environmental bodies, etc.
    • Support the growth of new opportunities (both clients and projects) and lead the preparation of tender submissions.

    The continued growth and development of the staff within our team is critical, and you will be responsible for managing staff and mentoring more junior members of the team. We are also committed to continuous improvement and innovation, and you will work with the team to drive greater efficiency.

    About You

    We seek a seasoned professional to champion stakeholder engagement for critical Infrastructure projects. You'll possess a proven track record leading stakeholder workstreams under Development Consent Order regimes. Your expertise lies in crafting comprehensive engagement strategies and fostering collaboration with a wide range of stakeholders: local authorities, government bodies, NGOs, businesses, landowners, and communities.

    You'll ensure effective communication and involvement throughout all project stages. Exceptional written and verbal communication and the ability to seamlessly collaborate within large teams are crucial. Building and maintaining strong client relationships is a key strength, with prior consultancy experience a plus, but not mandatory.

    Experience in adhering to statutory requirements like DCOs, TWAOs, and Hybrid Bills while managing stakeholder engagement activities is essential. Additionally, proven team management skills are required and you will possess the knowledge and the ability to advise across the Stakeholders and Consultation workstream and will be a key member of our highly focused leadership team, able to communicate directly with our clients to ensure that they receive an outstanding experience.
