    Reporting into the VP of Engineering, as the Engineering Director you will be responsible for leading and managing a team of software engineers in the SMS (Safety Management Systems) engineering team to develop and deliver high-quality software solutions.

    This role is crucial for driving the strategic direction and execution of our engineering initiatives.
    You will be responsible for providing technical guidance, mentoring team members, and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes


    Leadership:
    Provide strategic direction and leadership to the engineering team, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives.

    Team Management:
    Oversee the hiring, training, and performance evaluation of engineering staff. Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the team .

    Engineering Excellence:
    Ensure engineering excellence through code reviews, testing, and adherence to best practices.

    Project Management:

    Manage engineering projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet quality standards.

    Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as Product Management, Quality Assurance and Delivery to ensure engineering efforts support overall business objectives.

    Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability within the engineering team.

    Technical Guidance:
    Provide technical guidance and expertise to the engineering team, helping to solve complex problems and make informed decisions.
    Continuously improve engineering processes and practices to increase efficiency, productivity, and quality.

    Risk Management :
    Identify and mitigate risks related to engineering projects, ensuring potential issues are addressed proactively.

    Represent the engineering team in stakeholder and executive meetings and provide regular updates on project status, engineering initiatives, progress, and challenges.

    Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in engineering management.
    Experience in software engineering within a leadership role, successfully leading a medium/large team of 15+ Engineers.
    Experience in aviation, defence, rail, or other regulated industries.
    Proven track record of managing and scaling engineering teams.
    Strong technical background in software development, methodologies, and technologies
    Proven track record of collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams and building strong working relationships with stakeholders.
    Results-oriented mindset with a focus on delivering high-quality software solutions that meet business needs.
