Job Opportunity:
Berkshire Hathaway Specialty Insurance (BHSI) has an exciting opportunity for an Underwriting Technician in London, who will have responsibility for ensuring the Casualty & Accident and Health (A&H) Underwriting teams are suitably enabled to transact business effectively, through accurate timely and complete recording of data, investigation of issues and relevant engagement with external & internal stakeholders.
As a contributor to process and system-based improvements in support of the Underwriting team, the role will have significant involvement with the Operations department.
The Underwriting Technician will be a key driver of task migration to our operational support area through identifying suitable tasks, training and feedback.
As part of a growing business, cross-functional collaborative initiatives will form an ongoing part of the role.Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist underwriters with account recording workflow managementEnsure consistent and accurate booking information from UnderwritersDraft Submissions and quotes in conjunction with Underwriter on our policy management system (Source)
Being able to work in a fast-paced environment dealing with highly confidential informationApproach Brokers to obtain certain details i.e.
Employee Reference Number (ERN) for ELTOMonitor and manage Underwriting file integrityReview and provide support on operational area task completionObserve and capture requirements for process improvements or task migrationSupport management in producing and monitoring portfolioParticipate in the reporting and external engagement for receivablesRepresent the Operations function within Underwriting teamQualifications, Skills and Experience:
Ideally 2 years commercial insurance experience preferredUnderstanding of underwriting practices throughout the policy life cycleMust be proactive and able to work collaboratively within a team environment.
