    A local Casting and Foundry business are now looking to recruit a Health and Safety Manager to join their team.

    Health and Safety Manager – Overview

    As an important part of the HSE and Technical team, the Health & Safety Manager will have primary day-to-day responsibility for managing all health safety matters within the company.

    With management responsibility for the health & safety support team, the Health & Safety Manager will need to liaise with departmental managers & the Group Management Team to ensure compliance and cooperation with all measures implemented.

    It is anticipated that the Health & Safety Manager will build relationships with employees in all areas and endeavour to understand all processes conducted by the business.


    Health and Safety Manager – Job Role:

    • Manage the small HSE Team which includes a H&S Advisor and a Environmental & Sustainability Advisor
    • To improve and implement health & safety measures throughout the business including the auditing of existing processes and the identification of potential new improvements.
    • To ensure the completion of suitable and sufficient risk assessments of all business activities with a planned programme of regular reviews.
    • To ensure that all health & safety legislative requirements are met.
    • To provide effective management of the health & safety support team to ensure the successful completion of all essential tasks.
    • To conduct detailed investigations for Accidents, Incidents & Near Misses and ensure the implementation of appropriate corrective actions to prevent or reduce the risk of reoccurrences.
    • To take responsibility for their own knowledge and understanding of all job functions within the business.
    • Keep up to date with advances in Health and Safety technology and legislation. This should include sufficient continuous professional development to maintain the currency of any professional qualifications held.
    • To advise, guide & train other employees with regards to their personal obligations & those of the business regarding health & safety.
    • To work collaboratively with other managers to continue to improve the health & safety regime in their departments.
    • Collection of health & safety related data and the preparation & delivery of reports both internally and outside of the organisation.
    • Liaise as required with the Health & Safety Executive and other statuary bodies.
    Health and Safety Manager - Skills & Attributes required.
    The ideal candidate will come from the Manufacturing Industry as a Health and Safety Manager.

    You will also have the following skills, qualifications and experience:


    • Hold a NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ, NVQ level 5 in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent
    • CMIOSH or working towards
    • Ideally come from heavy Industry, Metals, Foundry or Castings type background as a Health and Safety Professional
    • Have a hands-on and Pro-Active approach to Health and Safety
