    University Hospitals of Derby and Burton (UHDB) is looking to recruit a an individual to provide leadership to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control function supporting the aseptic preparation of medicines within our organisation to cover maternity leave.

    UHDB provides aseptically prepared medicines under a MHRA Manufacturer's Specials Licence and also under Section 10 exemption in three operational aseptic units.

    The aseptic service provision is supported by an onsite Quality Control laboratory providing environmental monitoring and testing for the Pharmacy aseptic units and UHDB Radio pharmacy.

    We have an ambition to ensure that technical services are a key component of delivering safe and timely medicines supply to patients and this post has a critical leadership role to ensure that medicines supply is safe, effective and compliant with regulatory standards.

    Your development will be supported by a close working relationship with the Chief Pharmacist and the senior management team.

    The responsibility includes providing expert quality assurance leadership to the Royal Derby Site for:

    • Quality Assurance Department
    The Trust's Pharmacy Aseptic services under both the MHRA Manufacturers Specials Licence and under section 10 exemption of the Medicines Act 1968 And Regulation 4 of the Human Medicines Regulations 2012,
    Pharmacy wholesale dealing

    Named on the MHRA licence on the Royal Derby Sites as Quality Controller for MS Licences held by UHDB Radiopharmacy and UHDB Pharmacy.

    Ensures compliance with the standards of the Medicines Act and the licensing requirements of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for activities delivered under the Manufacturer's Specials Licence.

    Ensures compliance with Home Office Licence with regard to controlled drugs for services provided by Royal Derby Quality Assurance Department.

    Ensures compliance with COSHH regulations for services provided by Royal Derby Quality Assurance Department.

    Knowledge, training and experience
    Formal management and leadership training or equivalent experience
    Formal technical training and qualification
    Planning and organisational skills
    ~ Plans and coordinates specific aspects of the technical pharmacy service across the department, Trust and local system
