    Job summary

    Mortimer Ward is a 21bedded acute in patientward for adults with serious mental health problems, requiring inpatient careand treatment. Patients requiringadmission may also have complex physical co morbidities and applicants shouldhave an interest in both mental and physical health care delivery. Patientsadmitted can either be in formal or detained under the Mental Health Act andrequire a holistic care approach to work towards their Recovery.

    The ward has a multi-disciplinary team approachto deliver holistic care, including nurses, physiotherapists, occupationaltherapist, activity support workers , Psychiatric Consultants and juniordoctors. You will also work alongside colleagues in the Crisis Team and AdultSocial Care. Mortimer Ward also welcomes and supports student nurses as part ofour team.

    Mortimer Ward operates a rotational shiftpattern system over a 24 hours / seven day period. . The day shift starts at till and the night shift at till hrs.The post is full time but part time hours would be considered.

    Main duties of the job

  • Delivering a highquality clinical service to patients and their families.
  • Acting as namednurse to a group of patients under the direction / supervision of the personidentified with continuing responsibility.
  • Participating intherapeutic group work programmes.
  • Taking charge ofthe ward in the absence of the ward manager and deputy ward manager.
  • You will beresponsible for the assessment of care needs and contributing to; theformulation of the person's needs and the development of a relevant plan basedupon the person's negotiated goals and relevant evidence based interventions.
  • You will, inconjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, provide nursing interventions tosupport the person to meet their agreed goals and coordinate and/ orparticipate in the review of progress towards those goals, utilising recommendedoutcome measures, involving the service user and any identified carerthroughout the clinical journey.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • RN Mental Health, RN (Adult) or RNLD
  • Registered on the NMC register
  • Evidence of continuing professional development
  • I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer
  • Desirable

  • Attended control and restraint course within the last 12 months
  • CPR course
  • Teaching and assessing qualification
  • Additional Criteria

  • Ability to work flexibly to cover a 24 hour/365 day service.
  • Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English in both verbal and written formats
  • Able to assess, plan, implement and evaluate programmes of care

  • Uses own initiative and is able to take decisions
  • Able to maintain clear and legible documentation
  • Experience

  • Where the post holder is on or above the 2nd KSF gateway they will support the Clinical Coordinator role, as described as exceptional circumstances in the job description
