    Senior Manager, Data Ethics

    The Open University was established by Royal Charter in 1969 with the mission to be 'open to people, places, methods, and ideas.

    We work in all four nations of the UK as well as globally, employing around 11,000 people across a range of academic, associate lecturer and professional services roles.

    Pioneering higher education by distance learning over 2 million people have studied with the OU, predominantly part-time and often while in paid work.

    The Senior Manager, Data Ethics is responsible for the implementation of a data ethics framework in The Open University.

    Working closely with key University projects in the area of data innovation, you will develop an approach alongside these new developments to put a defined structure and methodology in place while also helping these projects to take an ethical approach.

    Drawing on work already done, you will ensure that the Data Ethics Policy is adopted and the draft process put in place, developing this as needed to accommodate the objectives of the wider projects and the working practices of the University.

    Good knowledge and understanding of data ethics is essential. Experience of implementing data ethics in a large organization would be advantageous.

    Proven experience of implementing processes in accordance with policy in a large organisation, ideally with some experience of working in the area of data or technology innovation.

    Good communication and interpersonal skills, demonstrating the ability to build rapport with team members and stakeholders, and to clearly articulate data ethics requirements and benefits to stakeholders across the business.

    Able to build collaborative relationships with other areas of the university and to use these effectively to help others adopt an ethical approach.
