Description
NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK employing around 40,000 staff in a wide range of clinical and non-clinical professions and job roles. We deliver acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services to a population of over 1.15 million and a wider population of 2.2 million when our regional and national services are included.
The shift pattern is 24 hour rotational.
Due to retirement there is an opportunity to join the GRI ICU Band 6 Charge Nurse group. We are looking for a highly motivated individual to contribute to the Critical Care Nursing vision and service delivery of the future.
The successful candidate will need to demonstrate a passion for person centred care and be able to ensure the delivery of best practice whilst achieving a high standard of evidence based nursing care in this specialised field.
We are looking for a motivated, resilient individual who can adapt to the ever changing environment. In addition to managing current challenge our ideal Charge Nurse candidate must have the ability to contribute to the future development of the nursing team.
Team work is essential - You will demonstrate an ability to work within the MDT and evidence excellent leadership, confident communication and effective organisational skills. We are looking for you to support and manage colleagues, patients, relatives and situations in a polite, friendly and effective manner. You must be able to support junior colleagues whilst providing an effective and nurturing learning environment for all staff.
There will be a responsibility to participate in and to facilitate current managerial, educational, quality and assurance projects within the unit. You will be expected to have good understanding of government & organisational objectives.
Given the nature of this role you must have proven significant clinical experience and have evidence of your own professional development which must include a Critical Care qualification. There will be an expectation that the post holder will manage staff development, education, appraisal and projects.
You will, in the absence of the SCN be expected to lead and manage any situation that arises using your clinical experience and initiative. This comes with an expectation of resource & budget management.
