    The UKFIU sits at the heart of the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) regime, providing the gateway to reporters and a repository of data to inform law enforcement. The UKFIU communicates with FIUs throughout the world to receive and share information globally and works in close partnership with key international partners. Our work is wide-reaching and helps the UK to stay safe. �

    Job description

    The UKFIU has national responsibility for receiving, analysing and disseminating intelligence submitted through the Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) regime, to share with law enforcement agencies at home and internationally.�The UKFIU's work with SARs plays a critical role in alerting law enforcement to potential instances of money laundering and terrorist financing.

    SARs are a vital source of intelligence, not only on economic crime but on a wide range of criminal activity. They are instrumental in, and have helped with, identifying fraud victims, sex offenders, murder suspects, missing persons, people traffickers, fugitives and terrorist financing.

    The UKFIU and Proceeds of Crime Centre (PoCC) sit alongside the National Economic Crime Centre (NECC) as parts of the NCA Economic Crime Command.

    To tackle serious and organised crime, we need a diverse team of skilled individuals to alert law enforcement to potential instances of money laundering and terrorist financing.

    Depending on experience you could be posted to any of our areas including:

    The Operations function is responsible for all receipt, processing, analysis/intelligence gathering and dissemination of SARs submitted to the UKFIU. This includes teams that: make decisions on requests for a Defence Against Money Laundering under the Proceeds of Crime Act; analyse Suspicious Activity Reports submitted by the regulated sector to the FIU under the Terrorism Act; identify and process SARs linked to priority threat areas and ongoing operational activity; and exchange information with FIUs in other countries.�

    The Operational Support function is responsible for the effective running of the UKFIU. This includes teams that: co-ordinate the strategic direction and policy work of the UKFIU; undertake analysis to identify emerging threats and trends; and ensure the FIU has the right people and training to fulfil its mission.

    The Engagement function is responsible for communication and support for Reporters and LEAs. This includes teams that: support law enforcement to best use from SARs; support Reporters in submitting �SARs, through best practice guidance and feedback; and create and distribute communications from the UKFIU.�

    Responsibilities:

  • Participation in groups and meetings as required, including overseas visits.
  • Attend meetings with Stakeholders as relevant.
  • Preparation of cross functional management papers.
  • UKFIU liaison with partner FIUs, Europol and Interpol.
  • Represent UKFIU interests in Anti-Money Laundering matters and where needed in meetings with senior leadership.
  • Management and Quality Assurance of performance reporting.
  • Providing support to critical functions requiring a managerial grade referral / decision including acting as the designated authorising officer.

  • Previous experience of managing a diverse team, risk management and operational decision-making.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience of assessing information, conducting analysis and presenting results.
  • A thorough understanding of economic crime and the illicit finance landscape including a good understanding of relevant legislation (UK and international) affecting UKFIU activity.
  • A good understanding of the importance of information management and the handling of sensitive information.

    Alongside your salary of �50,697, National Crime Agency contributes �13,688 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

    All officers in the NCA are members of the UK Civil Service. You will be eligible for:
