    Job Description

    Medical Advisor, Rare Disease

    Please note, only available to candidates with 18< months Industry experience and either GMC or UK Trained Pharmacist.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide authoritative information and practical support in key external business/ environmental matters to support the cross functional teams across Team
    • Effectively develop relationships with key external experts and organisations (including healthcare professionals, policy makers, payers and patient advocacy groups)
    • Provide proactive input to the development of business strategy, working closely with cross functional colleagues
    • Act as Medical Final Signatory (with oversight and support from an experienced Medical Final Signatory), providing review and copy approval of all materials, to ensure compliance with the respective Codes of Practice and all other applicable requirements
    • Present scientific data to key Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) / Centres, demonstrating the requisite knowledge and behaviours expected of an expert in the relevant area
    • Respond to information requests to HCPs as requested; this may include clinical trial discussions, pipeline data and other appropriate forms of scientific engagement
    • Co-ordinate and utilise specialist knowledge in helping formulate and then implement short and long term medical strategy
    • Provide input from a medical perspective for the development of internal training relating to the therapy area, product and competitor training
    • Input into company clinical research strategies to support UK market needs, through the Key Evidence Generation process
    • When required, accompany MSLs on a field visit
    • Support Clinical Research Department activities in respect of:
    • Knowledge/relationships with External Experts in given therapy area
    • Knowledge of UK clinical practice, care pathways, key competitors, etc. and input where required into study allocation process
    • Input into a development of local protocols, study feasibility, site selection, investigator meetings, and clinical study recruitment
    • Support to the development of Investigator Sponsored Studies and where appropriate named patient programmes

    Requirements:

    • A GMC registered medical doctor, GPhC registered pharmacist with appropriate therapy related research background
    • Disease area expertise desirable but not essential
    • Previous industry experience is essential
    • An excellent understanding of the changing UK health care environment
    • Commercially astute, with strong organisational and prioritising skills, and the ability to succeed in a highly results-driven environment
    • Willingness to travel, mainly within the UK, and at times within Europe or further afield. For co-promoted products – occasional travel to co-promotion partner company.
