    Job Title: Paediatric Oncology Nurse at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust

    Are you a compassionate and dedicated Paediatric Nurse looking to make a difference in the lives of children and young people battling cancer? Look no further, we are seeking experienced nurses to join our team and provide top-notch care to our patients.

    Main Responsibilities:

    • Provide high-quality care in a safe and professional environment for children and their families.
    • Promote family integrated care by collaborating closely with patients and their families.
    • Support all staff in developing expertise in Paediatric Haematology/Oncology care.
    • Ensure professional development meets NMC and mandatory requirements and aligns with service needs.

    Requirements:

    Essential Qualifications:

    • Registered Nurse
    • Band 5 nurse or above, with a minimum of 2 years of experience or Haem/Onc exposure.

    Desirable Qualifications:

    • Experience in Haematology/Oncology and SCT
    • First-degree qualification
    • Course in Mentoring and Assessing in Clinical Practice or equivalent
    • Chemotherapy Competencies

    Other Essential Requirements:

    • Excellent communication skills to engage with families
    • Strong time management abilities

    Personal Skills/Abilities and Attributes:

    • Team player with strong organizational skills
    • Ability to manage daily workload efficiently and provide high-quality care
    • Must exhibit good health, attendance, and flexibility in working shifts
    • Capable of working under pressure and effective time management
    • Understanding and practice of equality and inclusion principles
    • Alignment with the values and beliefs of the Trust

    Professional/Managerial/Specialist Knowledge:

    • Proficient in people management, leadership, and resource utilization
    • Effective use of IT programs to support patient care
    • Able to mentor new staff and communicate via email efficiently
    • Demonstrate teamwork and commitment to patient well-being
    • Engage in continuous learning and development

    Analytical and Judgement Skills:

    • Demonstrate degree-level analytical skills and quick decision-making in a fast-paced clinical setting

    Knowledge & Nature of Experience:

    • Minimum 1 year of post-registration experience
    • Experience in working closely with families
    • Willingness to engage in Chemotherapy and supportive care competencies
    • Openness to participate in educational opportunities for professional growth
    • Participation in tracheostomy competencies
