Job summary
Applications are invited for a Band 5 Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner in Theatre and Recovery within the Birmingham Women's Fertility Centre at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust.
The successful candidate will be a Registered Nurse or ODP with a minimum of 1 year post registration experience and show a keen interest in our area. You will need to have good communication skills and be sensitive to the needs of fertility patients. It is also essential that you can work flexible hours to meet the needs of the service.
This exciting role will involve acting as a post op recovery practitioner, caring for patients post anaesthesia/ sedation and also working within the fertility centre within the Nursing/ AHP team.
Previous experience with gynaecology patients as well as experience of minor operative procedures and working in a theatre recovery area would be advantageous.
Main duties of the job
To provide high quality care and participate in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the care needs of the patient group.
The post holder will be expected to carry out relevant forms of care without direct supervision and take a role in teaching others.
To play an active part in the continuing development of the theatre department and become involved in initiatives and changes as they occur.
The post holder will be expected to work in 2 disciplines of theatre practice, including Anaesthetics and be willing to take on further training.
