    Description

    Job Summary

    • We are looking for a Band 7 psychologist to join the new Children and Young People's Gender Service in London.
    • This role involves working in both the Children and Young People's Gender Service and a Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS).
    • This position will be full time for a fixed term of 3 years.

    This opportunity aligns with the Cass Review recommendation for staff to work across various NHS services to enhance the care of children and young people with gender-related challenges.

    Practitioner Health and Educational Psychologists with experience in children and young people's mental health are also encouraged to apply.

    Main Duties of the Job

    • The Children and Young People's Gender Service offers assessment and support for young individuals exploring their gender identity.
    • The post holder will provide psychological services in both the Gender Service and an agreed CAMHS, including assessment, treatment, and monitoring outcomes.

    The Children and Young People's Gender Service in London is a collaboration between Evelina London Children's Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust.

    • Provide specialist assessments and interventions for children and young people.
    • Support the effective operation of both services.
    • Participate in supervision, teaching, training, and research.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications

    • Entry-level qualification in Applied Psychology (Doctorate in Clinical Psychology or equivalent).
    • Registered with the HCPC as Practitioner Psychologist.

    Knowledge

    • Theoretical and clinical knowledge of psychopathology and treatment.
    • Expertise in psychological assessment and research methodology.

    Experience

    • Experience in clinical supervision and treating clients with complex needs.
    • Experience in addressing diversity and conducting research.

    Skills

    • Effective planning of assessments and interventions.
    • Allocation of tasks and test administration skills.
