    Description
    • To beresponsible for the effective and efficient inspection ofaccommodation provided by the Council to those in housing need inorder to ensure compliance with safety requirements and monitorstandards of repairs andmaintenance


    To have a good and practical knowledge of property standards,health and safety issues, regulations and legislative requirementsincluding local policies and best practice. Experience of dealingwith a diverse and vulnerable clientele in housing/homeless relatedenvironment. Experience of providing quality advice and informationto members of the public and of handling complaints and enquiries.Experience of producing high quality written communications to acorporate standard. Takes Ownership - being proactive and owningour personal objectives. It s about seizing opportunities, drivingexcellence, engaging with the council s objectives, and furtheringour professional development. Having regular one-to-ones andconversations with your staff to discuss how they are doing andseek their feedback. Engaging your staff in discussions about whats required to deliver and giving a sense of resource available.Achieving buy-in from staff so they can truly own their work bybreaking down tasks into something achievable. Working with yourstaff to provide creative development opportunities includingself-development. Owning your budget and spend, ensuring your teamsfocus on meeting outcomes. Identify and owning opportunities forservice development. Being courageous even when you don t know theanswer. Focuses on Results, ambition and achievement. It s aboutorienting ourselves towards the product and considering the effectof our service. It s about making the right impact, having theright result and changing things for the better. Being ambitious,knowing the bigger picture of borough improvement. Ensuring teamsare clear about the outcomes and objectives of the Council and showa clear link between what they do and how it makes an impact on thecustomer. Listening to staff after asking questions on how toimprove service while considering costs. Setting clear objectivesand targets, ensuring they are SMART and measurable and linked tobusiness plans. Working with staff to make sure they have the rightresources, tools, and support to achieve their objectives. Helpingstaff stay motivated by finding learning opportunities fordevelopment and looking at any barriers or obstacles to work,reviewwhat is slowing down our progress. Exploring ways to improvethe way things are currently done ensuring we maximise ourresources. Meeting regularly with staff to ensure work is on trackand focussed on objectives and tasks.
