    Description

    Job Title: Software Engineer

    Location: Bristol

    Pay Range/details: £50,000 to £70,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits + Flexible Working Hours

    Contract Type: Permanent

    An exciting vacancy exists with my client for an experienced Java Software Engineer of to join the Mission Planning and Control function on a full time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will come from a strong software engineering or developer background, ideally within the defence industry and have at least 4/5 years of experience.

    Due to the sensitive nature of the work within this role, you must be a British or Dual National and be able to obtain SC clearance.

    This role is predominantly based onsite.

    Key Responsibilities – Software Engineer

    • Delivering innovative solutions, exploiting a wide portfolio of software technologies.
    • Assist in the development of software products including front-end user interfaces, back-end server, and application-level software across a broad catalogue of products.
    • Working on the current and next generation of mission planning and control software products delivering solutions for some of the most capable weapon systems in the world.

    Qualifications & Requirements – Software Engineer

    • Experience in desktop/server application-level Java and some of the other listed areas such as C#, C++ or Python. If you do not currently have these, please do not let this stop you from applying as they represent a great opportunity for growth and development.
    • Desktop and Server application-level Java using technologies such as JavaFX, non-SQL databases and web services on Linux or Windows secured operating systems.
    • DevOps and Virtualisation
    • Working in teams using agile and adaptive software development practices across the software development lifecycle from requirements to testing and integration and delivery.
