Description
The Acute Medical Unit is a 24 bedded mixed specialty ward which admits patients from the Emergency Department (ED).All medical specialities are admitted through the unit unless speciality bed is required and available from ED on occasion we admit some surgical and orthopaedic patients depending on demand.
As a Band 6 junior sister/ charge nurse you will be responsible for promoting and implementing practice conducive to the development of high quality patient care by providing professional, clinical and managerial leadership.
You will be expected to take charge of the Unit on a day to day basis in the absence of the Sister/Charge Nurse and provide support and guidance to all staff.
A strong clinical background in acute general medicine is essential to this role to support the nursing team and ensure our patients receive the right standard of care.

have a good knowledge and the ability to manage patient flow, ensuring that patients are admitted and discharged to and from AMU in a timely manner to maximise emergency flow from ED and prompt specialist care where needed.
ensure that the shift team you are managing are caring for patients to the highest standards and you will have oversight of all patients within the unit to provide assurance to the ward manager.
