We are currently recruiting for an Operational Resilience Associate to join our growing team. Are you looking to develop your career in a customer focused, fast paced and agile environment? Do you have great attention to detail and enthusiasm to support the embedding of Operational Resilience across the Society? Then this could be an exciting opportunity for you.

    Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We're the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We don't have shareholders; we're owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton's a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we'll help you take the next step towards a better future.

You will be joining our Operational Resilience Team, a growing team of Operational Resilience Associates, Analysts and Leads who report into our Senior Operational Resilience Manager. This is a brilliant opportunity for you to work closely with stakeholders from across the business to promote and embed resilience. Our focus on customer centric outcomes and the ability to maintain an outstanding, sustainable and accessible business, regardless of the type of disruption we face, ultimately ensures we are playing our part to support a resilient business, financial sector and Community.

    What's In It For You?

Skipton values work/life balance and we are proud to support hybrid and flexible working, where possible. We have a newly refurbished head office which offers a vibrant and collaborative working space.

We have a range of other benefits available to you including; -

    • Annual discretionary bonus scheme
    • 25 days standard annual leave + bank holidays + rising 1 day per year of service to a maximum of 30 days
    • Holiday trading scheme allowing the ability to buy and sell additional annual leave days
    • Matching employer pension contribution (up to 10% per annum)
    • A commitment to training and development
    • Private medical insurance for all our colleagues
    • 3 paid volunteering days per annum
    • Diverse and inclusive colleague networks available for you to join including our Carers and Pride Alliance groups
    • We care about your health and wellbeing – we provide a range of benefits that support this including cycle to work initiative and discounted gym membership

    What Will You Be Doing?

The role of Operational Resilience Associate is key to supporting the delivery of our Operational Resilience and Operational Continuity in Resolution (OCIR) activities.

We're looking for someone who wants to learn and develop with us whilst:

    • Supporting the delivery of our Operational Resilience activities to include maintenance and management of our Important Business Services, Maximum Impact Tolerances, Service Mapping and Stress Testing processes.
    • Undertaking work activities and utilising a range of Business Continuity and Resilience software and tools to maintain, test and embed continuity and resilience capabilities across the business.
    • Working alongside the team and business stakeholders to explain regulation and policy; understand business processes; support the capture, maintenance, interpretation and sharing of information; and produce and present business information for training and governance processes.

What Do We Need From You?

This role is perfect for you if you're looking for variety, a hybrid working environment that offers flexibility and you want to work for an organisation that is invested in its customers and colleagues alike. You will also need to have: -

    • Capability to use and apply tools, techniques and practice for managing resilience and continuity activities in a Financial Services organisation.
    • Knowledge and understanding of the Operational Resilience regulatory guidance and publications.
    • Attention to detail, ability to analyse and interpret wide ranging business information, summarise, identify recommendations and produce management reports.
    • Ability to learn quickly and deliver at pace in an agile environment.
    • Ability to understand business strategy, key business processes and their link to Operational Resilience.
    • Ability to engage, influence and work in partnership with senior stakeholders.
    • Proven ability in identifying and documenting risks and the design and/ or recommendation of appropriate management controls.
    • A proven track record of achieving results.
    • Commitment to role modelling behaviours and ways of working that aligns with Skipton values.
    • Effective coaching skills and desire for continuous improvement through feedback.

You might not have on the job experience of everything we're asking for but if you can demonstrate experience that hits the mark for most, we'd like to hear from you.

Diversity and inclusion are a priority for us as we continue to support our members and represent the communities we serve. We encourage applications from individuals of all backgrounds, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, neurodiversity, age, family or parental status, beliefs, nationalities and religions - supporting an inclusive environment for all our colleagues to bring their true selves to Skipton.

If you have a disability, or if you have a condition that you believe may affect your performance during our selection process, we'll be happy to discuss making reasonable adjustments to our processes for you. Please contact our Talent Acquisition team at
