Job summary
Barts Health NHS Trust is currently one of the largest NHS Trust in England and encompasses four hospitals based in Central and East of London. In keeping with the recommendations of the Richards Review of Diagnostics we are developing a Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) at Mile End is part of wider programme to reform & renew the delivery of diagnostics to meet increasing demand for services. CDC will also facilitate patients having their diagnostic tests performed closer to home & within the local community & will be open for 12 hours a day over 7 days a week.
The Barts MR Physics team is looking for a state registered clinical scientist to cover the Ultrasound (US) Physics needs of the Mile End CDC.
Responsibilities entail QA of the CDC ultrasound equipment, US physics teaching & training, & cross-cover for other non-ionising imaging in the CDC in particular the CDC 3 T MRI scanner. The MRI Physics team is comprised of 5 clinical scientists & supports 9 scanners across 5 hospitals. The group extensively supports clinical research & leads on various physics & AI research projects; as such, the successful candidate will be given opportunity to carry out research.

Main duties of the job
This position is for the purpose of supporting the Community Diagnostics Centre (CDC) at Mile End Hospital, and in particular the Ultra Sound (US) service, including Quality Assurance (QA), protocol optimisation and clinical trial support.
The post-holder will also provide cross-support to non-ionising imaging within the CDC and work closely with the CDC MRI Physicist.
The post-holder will take a key role in the provision of non-ionising radiation physics training & education within the CDC, Barts Health and NEL Education Academy, including supporting the Scientist Training Program (STP).
