    Job Summary


    As Director of Technology, you will play a crucial role in shaping and leading the technological strategy to support sophisticated trading operations.

    Your expertise will drive the development and enhancement of our client's trading platforms and systems, ensuring they are robust, secure, and capable of executing high-frequency trading strategies effectively.

    Responsibilities


    Strategic Technology Leadership:

    • Define and implement the technology strategy in alignment with the hedge fund's overall
    business goals.


    • Evaluate and adopt new technologies that can improve trading performance and
    operational efficiency.

    Development and Optimization of Trading Systems:

    • Oversee the development, implementation, and continuous refinement of trading
    algorithms and systems.


    • Ensure the trading platforms are robust, scalable, and capable of handling real-time
    trading operations with minimal downtime.


    Data Management and Analytics:

    • Manage the acquisition, validation, and storage of large sets of trading data.
    • Develop systems to analyze this data, providing actionable insights to improve trading
    strategies and risk management.


    IT Infrastructure and Operations Management:

    • Design and maintain a secure, stable, and efficient IT infrastructure that supports all
    trading activities.


    • Oversee the regular maintenance and upgrading of systems to ensure technology
    remains up-to-date and effective.


    Cybersecurity and Risk Management:

    • Implement and monitor security protocols to protect the fund's data and systems from
    cyber threats.


    • Develop strategies to mitigate technological risks, ensuring compliance with financial and
    data protection regulations.


    Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work closely with other department heads such as trading, research, and operations to
    ensure technology alignment with business needs.


    • Communicate effectively with stakeholders about technology strategy and projects,
    ensuring transparency and alignment with business objectives.


    Team Leadership and Development:

    • Lead, mentor, and develop the technology team, fostering a culture of innovation and
    continuous improvement.


    • Manage staffing, including hiring, training, and professional development, to build a
    high-performing technology team.


    Budget and Resource Management:

    • Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring optimal allocation of resources for
    maximum return on investment.


    • Oversee the procurement of technological equipment and software, ensuring cost[1]effectiveness and compliance with industry standards.

    Regulatory Compliance :

    • Stay updated with relevant financial and technology regulations.
    • Ensure all technology practices adhere to regulatory requirements to avoid legal and
    compliance issues.


    Innovation and Research:

    • Foster a culture of innovation within the technology team to explore new ideas and
    technologies that could benefit the hedge fund.


    • Keep abreast of industry trends and technological advancements to maintain a
    competitive edge in the market.

    Required Qualifications


    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; PhD is a
    plus.


    • At least 10 years of experience in technology roles within the financial services sector,
    with a strong preference for prior experience in a hedge fund or trading environment.


    • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, Java, and R is crucial.
    • Ability to design, implement, and refine complex trading algorithms that can process
    large volumes of data in real-time to make predictive trading decisions based on multiple
    variables.


    • Expertise in managing and manipulating large datasets, using SQL databases and
    potentially NoSQL databases. Knowledge of data warehousing, data mining, and data
    integration techniques to ensure that data is accessible and reliable.


    • Understanding of the infrastructure and strategies used in high-frequency trading,
    including latency management, order execution systems, and real-time data processing.


    • Strong quantitative skills to work closely with quantitative analysts to understand,
    implement, and optimize mathematical models that drive trading strategies.


    • Experience with Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence including ML and AI
    techniques to develop predictive models and enhance algorithmic strategies. Familiarity
    with libraries and frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or Scikit-Learn can be particularly
    useful.


    • Knowledge of risk management software and tools to monitor, measure, and manage the
    various types of financial risks faced by the fund.


    • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles, including securing data transmissions,
    encryption, and protection of data against unauthorized access.


    • Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform for scalable
    computing resources, data storage, and enhancing operational efficiency through various
    cloud services.


    • Proficiency in developing and integrating APIs to connect various software systems,
    trading platforms, and third-party services, ensuring seamless data flow and functionality
    across platforms.


    • Expertise in designing and optimizing system architecture, with a focus on creating
    scalable and robust infrastructure that can handle high throughput and low latency
    demands.


    • Knowledge of relevant financial regulations and compliance standards such as GDPR,
    MiFID II, or others applicable in financial trading to ensure that all technological solutions
    are compliant with legal standards.


    • Deep knowledge of algorithmic trading, data structures, and financial market operations.
    • Deep knowledge of cloud systems and architecture.
    • Proven leadership and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple
    projects simultaneously.


    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working collaboratively
    across departments.


    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.
