    Job summary

    An exciting opportunity exists for a full-time fixed termcontract (12 months) Project Manager to join our Digital Programme ManagementOffice (PMO) to lead a number of projects including cyber-security and thedeployment of telephony infrastructure and system upgrades as part of our TelephonyImprovement programme.

    This role is an ideal opportunity for someone with significantexperience of working within project environments. As project manager you willhave experience of projects using both traditional project managementmethodologies and agile methodologies and must possess demonstrable experienceof working using such methodologies.

    The Digital Project Manager will be an integral part of thedevelopment and delivery of the Trusts vision to be a truly digital healthcareorganisation, supported by a solid foundation of infrastructure and innovativeuse of communication technology to enable excellence.

    Main duties of the job

    The Digital Project Managers will manage projects frominitiation to closure; including design, planning, execution, control,transition and transfer. The project will be managed in-line with standardIM&T, Trust processes and reporting standards.

    Although you will be managing cyber-security and telephonyprojects, as every project we deliver is different you will be required to flexyour skills to drive each individual project forward; this will includeresponsibility for project delivery and will include identifying when agile ortraditional methods are more suitable for such delivery. You will closelymonitor and update project schedules and budgets, prepare progress reports,progress action points, control risks and issues and liaise with key stakeholders.

    The role requires an enthusiastic and motivated individual whopays particular attention to detail; you will have an excellent understandingand experience of the project lifecycle and the need for project managementframeworks. You must be a team player, be able to prioritise and manage adiverse workload within tight deadlines, be confident at liaising withstakeholders at all levels and have excellent analytical skills.

    The post holder will be working closely with other teams withinthe department such as training and testing with a wide range of stakeholdersto ensure the smooth transition of projects into Business As Usual.

    Executive Management, TrustConsultants and other Clinical staff, Senior Managers, Other Digital staff,non-clinical staff involved with projects.

    External:

    Regional and national projectleads and change specialists, other NHS staff, suppliers and service providers.

    Job Purpose;

  • Theproject manager has the authority to run the project on a day-to-day basis onbehalf of the project steering group within the constraints laid down by theproject steering group.
  • Theproject managers prime responsibility is to ensure that the projects (many ofwhich are part of wider Cyber-Security and Telephony Improvement programme) producethe required products, to the required standard of quality and within thespecified constraints of time and cost. The project manager is also responsiblefor the project producing a result which can achieve the benefits defined inthe business case.
  • Key Duties;

  • Clearly and effectively communicate, directand motivate the project team.
  • Clearlyand effectively communicate complex issues with clinical and non-clinicalpersonnel, non- Digital personnel in an effective and simple way using a rangeof communication techniques.
  • Ensureall organisations involved are negotiated with to ensure issues are rectifiedquickly and effectively to maintain project flow.
  • Influence and persuade stakeholders andproject steering groups.
  • Engage with stakeholders, users and decisionmakers using workshops and formal presentations.
  • Manage third party supplier relationships /account managers.
  • Reportto the project steering group (and Programme Director - Digital Systems)through highlight reports and stageassessments various information regarding delivery and performance.
  • Liaisewith the project steering group or its appointed project assurance roles toassure the overall direction and integrity of the project.
  • Knowledgeof project management skills gained through professional qualifications inleadership and management.
  • Experiencein managing projects through the full lifecycle in line with the Trusts Digitaldelivery framework and based on Prince 2 project management methodologies.
  • Prepareproject, stage and, if necessary, exception plans in conjunction with teammanagers, and appointed projectassurance roles, and agree them with the project steering group.
  • Manage business and project risks using RAID,including the development of contingency plans.
  • Toinvestigate and disseminate complex enquiries where there may be differingviews / assist with solutions and decision making based on evidence, data andoptions gathered.
  • Managethe pre-project processes leading to the definition of the project and approvalof its business case.
  • Effectivelyplan, resource and monitor the project with consideration of other departmentalresource commitments.
  • Handoverthe project to operational support teams in a manner consistent with theworking practices and requirements of thoseareas.
  • Ensurethat third party support is handed over to the operational support teams withclear escalation along with service level agreement pathways and documents.
  • Demonstrate a high ability in using a rangeof Microsoft Office tools.
  • Act inprofessional manner with members of the public and patients when visitingclinical and non- clinical areas.
  • EnsureTrust policies and procedures are aligned to any change or systemimplementation or redirection ensuring all non-Digital departments and engagedand external dependencies are considered.
  • Agree technical andquality strategy with appropriate members of the project steering group.
  • Independentlywork to agreed objectives, the Digital project framework and incorporatednational guidelines in line with Trust Digitalstrategy.
  • Formulatingaction plans to meet local and national requirements and mobilising teams toensure actions take place.
  • Ensure appropriate local change managementplans are in place to embed sustainable solutions.
  • Manage the budget in line with agreedexpenditure constraints.
  • Managestaff within the project team to ensure actions are agreed and performed asagreed in the project plan.
  • Liaisewith team leads (including testing, training, application support, development,information and finance) to ensure all aspects of the project are appropriatelyidentified, resourced and scheduled.
  • Assistwith various tasks as required pertaining to the Digital programme of work suchas resource management for the local workflow and that which may affect otherhospital teams and resource.
  • Liaisewith other project managers to ensure dependent project work and sharedresource is effectively managed.
  • Beresponsible for maintaining various project monitoring systems and useadministrative and planning tools as directed by the Programme Director -Digital Systems.
  • Ensureappropriate research is undertaken and benefit realisation plans are in placeto release and track agreed benefits using various research tools, time inmotion studies and complex surveys.
  • Be asystem specialist and be cited on local and national standards for given areasor functions and, including NHS contractual standards, to understand how it mayimpact the organisation with regards to business change.
  • Able tomaintain continuous concentration in sporadic cycles within own work andmonitoring performance of others for reporting and data analysis.
