    Job summary

    Hours Per Week7-8a Preceptorship.

    Primarily based in theKirklees Outreach Team (crisis team), a friendly and welcoming team who arekeen for psychology input. Working with the CMHT and inpatient service willenable continuity of psychological care for older people throughout theirtreatment in mental health services.

    Supervision from establishedCMHT Psychologist and ward-based Consultant Psychologist.

    CPD opportunities andpotential to develop the post in line with your own interests. Short- andlonger-term therapy, neuropsychological assessment, working with staff.

    Applications welcome fromnewly qualified or third year trainees. There is an opportunity for apreceptorship post for a Band 7 to join the service and undertake a developmentplan with the aim of developing the required competencies for an 8a post.

    The candidatewould need to successfully complete the competency framework before they gainthe band 8a and this would not be achieved due to length of time in post.

    Main duties of the job

    The post holder will workclosely with Kirklees Outreach Team (KOT) a crisis service providing intensivesupport to people in the own homes to both avoid inpatient admission and tosupport discharge from hospital.

    There will be opportunities for short- andlonger-term input with service users, including supporting them throughadmissions, and continuing individual work on discharge from KOT to the CMHT.

    The post holder will also workwith staff in KOT, the CMHT and the ward to encourage strong links andpsychological care planning across the crisis pathway, providing psychologicalexpertise when working with people who might be in crisis, with the aim ofsupporting multi-disciplinary colleagues with risk assessment, formulation, andpsychologically informed intervention.

    Close links with the CMHT andward will provide opportunities to develop your own interests, includingspecific therapies or neuropsychology. We are looking for someone with a clearinterest in working with older people.

    Job responsibilities

    Thisjob description is an outline of the main duties of the post. The post holder will be required to undertakeother duties commensurate with the grade as directed.

    The content of this post will be reviewed in consultation with thepost holder when necessary and in line with the service developments.

    The post holderwill provide specialist clinical psychology skills within a multidisciplinaryteam. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the usersof the service.

    They will providehighly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while workingcollaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues, professionals from otheragencies and carers.

    They will be clinically responsible to a senior clinicalpsychologist. Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical leadin the service.

    e team while observing Trust and National policies and post holder will provide support to Assistant Psychologists andDoctoral trainees. They will utilise research skills in audit, servicedevelopment and research relevant to the post.

    To offer consultation, supervision and training when required by otheragencies involved in the psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being ofpeople referred to the service

    To provide consultation, assessment and intervention in the service.

    To work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary context.

    To provide assessment and treatment options for people experiencing moderate, severe and complex mental health problems .

    To exercise expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based practise.

    To continually seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training, experience, and supervision.

    To be proficient in the use of Psychometric testing appropriate to the age range.

    To provide specialist risk assessment of and intervention to people who present to the service.

    To follow appropriate Adult and Child Protection guidelines in all Clinical work, including close liaison with all agencies.

    To liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of the client.

    To work jointly with other team members in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to people and their families.

    To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.

    To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to effectively evaluate progress.

    Qualifications

    Essential

  • Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
  • Significant Post qualification experience in a Setting relevant to the post.
  • HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist.

  • A Current driving licence and access to a car during the working day is essential (reasonable adjustments will be considered for any applicants who are unable to drive due to a disability).

  • Experience

  • Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across the full range of care settings including outpatient, community, primary care and inpatient settings.
  • Experience of working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life course presenting problems that reflect the full range of clinical severity including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems, verbal abuse and the threat of physical abuse.
