Description
Approved Mental Health Professional Social Worker RBKC614415Employer The Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea Council Location Kensington and Chelsea, London (Greater) Salary £41,967 - £50,088 per annum Closing date 2 Jun 2024
In Kensington and Chelsea, we have an ambitious Council Plan which sets out our priorities for the next four years.
It is directly shaped by the Council's biggest ever 'conversation' with residents and puts community involvement at its heart. We want to ensure our approach to housing delivers social value and aligns with our ambitions on equality, diversity and inclusion.
This includes looking after residents with complex social, health and economic needs, helping them to exercise choice and control. The role of an approved mental health practitioner (AMHP) focuses on working with our residents involved in a wide spectrum of ASB; The practitioner will be working within the ASB Team within Housing Management which brings a new dimension to most practitioner roles working withing Adult or Children Services.
This is a new role and offers a unique opportunity to support residents or households with mental health issues, with a range of needs including being at risk of being involved in antisocial behaviour, dealing with hoarding issues, vulnerable to exploitation to sustain their tenancies.
Operating within a collaborative framework, AMHPs work closely with colleagues in Neighbourhood Services, Mental Health Services, Adult Social Care and other partners to address the multifaceted needs of individuals.
Adopting a holistic approach, they develop personalised plans that offer practical advice and interventions to promote independence and safeguard the rights of vulnerable individuals.
AMHPs must maintain a proactive and solution-oriented mindset to effectively address the needs of residents and their communities. This involves considering multiple courses of action, escalating issues when necessary, and prioritising workload based on risk, urgency, and complexity.
As experienced professionals with a solid understanding of mental health law, AMHPs exercise autonomy in decision-making while collaborating with partner agencies to ensure optimal outcomes for individuals.
The role emphasises flexibility, collective responsibility, and access to management support from Neighbourhood Services and Mental Health to navigate complex situations and meet the immediate needs of those they serve.
We are seeking an Approved Mental Health Practitioner within housing, and your background in social work, housing, or the voluntary sector could be the perfect fit.
Your interest goes beyond the surface – you're committed to understanding the underlying causes of challenges affecting residents with mental health issues and empowering individuals to engage with support and change their future behaviours.
Your expertise in mental health legislation, including the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding, is crucial for providing informed and comprehensive support to those in need.
