Job Purpose

• Manage budgeted engineering, process and facility improvement and development projects more than group threshold, in compliance with the requirements of cGMP, FDA QSR 21CFR 820, IS013485 & European Medical Devices Directive MDD94/42/EEC and Health, Safety and Environmental Legislation.
• Establish and lead Project Management Teams: establishing Project Charters, User Requirement Specification and Capital Management in line with GAMP5.
• Manage and drive project teams to delivery meeting: specification, timelines and within budget, whilst meeting the requirements of QMS, Regulatory Bodies and Customers (Internal and External).
• To support local operational teams at the request of the site Operations Manager in projects below group threshold, providing engineering, process, Project Management expertise and resource support.
• To be SME for Project Management & Group Operational Managers.

What this role will involve:

• This is a group role so the job holder must be willing to travel, expectation would be 30% of time, this is for the project manager to manage to ensure alignment to project needs.
• Project managing the introduction of new equipment and facilities from initial scoping to handover to Customer, Using proven CI Processes and good practice (GAMP 5).
• Consult and negotiate with engineering, equipment, service suppliers and contractors to ensure contracts, specifications and cost estimates provide the best value possible.
• To provide timely documentation, IQ/OQ/PQ protocols and reports, work instructions, risk assessments, certification as required to satisfy regulatory and legislative requirements.
• Assess the feasibility of investments in new buildings and alternatives such as, leasing of properties and extensions to existing facilities.
• Manage contractors working on site and ensure compliance with company and legal HSE requirements.
• When applicable, to be accountable for the implementation of Early Equipment Management (EEM) and support project managers to take responsibility for ensuring all equipment and facilities are brought onto site to agreed standard.
• Support functional leaders; ensuring they understand their roles and responsibilities to support the implementation of the related project.
• Support Site Engineering department with the implementation of an effective planned maintenance schedule for the facility and or asset.
• Responsible for developing, writing, and presenting for approval capital investment proposals for the business.
• Responsible for setting and managing budgets for engineering projects for which they are responsible.
• Spending authority as defined in the annual departmental budget.
• Provide input into preparation of departmental budgets.
• Job holder will have day to day interaction at all levels, across the business, whilst supporting and developing junior PMs through coaching and mentoring.
• The jobholder will regularly interact with external suppliers, specialists, and contractors.
• Excellent communicator: Face to Face, Phone and Written.
• Active participant in company meetings as required.
• Required to run ad-hoc meetings related to Project & Engineering activity.
• Required to carry out presentations to senior management and management colleagues about developments and plans relating to engineering.
• Prepare a monthly report on key activities in which they are involved.
• Promote the stage gate project management approach process across the group.
• Job holder will have day to day interaction at all levels, across whole business.
• The jobholder will regularly interact with external suppliers, specialists and contractors.
• Need to communicate verbally, by phone and email on a daily basis.
• An active participant in company meetings as required.
• Required to run ad-hoc meetings related to engineering activity.
• Required to carry out presentations to senior management and management colleagues about developments and plans relating to engineering.
• Expected to prepare a monthly report on key activities in which they are involved.
• The jobholder will need to promote the stage gate project management approach process across the group.

What we're looking for:

• Mechanical Engineering Degree Qualified Preferred. Engineers qualified to HNC + a proven track record considered.
• Strong background in successful evaluation and Management of Engineering Projects within a Manufacturing environment.
• Understanding of Stage Gate Project Management Principles.
• Able to read engineering drawings and utilise CAD or other similar software packages. CAD drawing skills are desirable but not essential.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work well within a team with a flexible approach.
• Experience of continuous improvement would be an Advantage.
• Knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation, quality and compliance. Specifically, CDM and HAZOP.
• Previous experience of coaching/mentoring others.
• Essential Skills: Negotiation & Influencing skills.

• Proven track record of planning and execution of projects to a defined cost, timeframe and specification.
